Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

EWA staff getting nothing done, because there were not properly trained.

The EWA staff had training for one week almost a year ago. This all falls on Lowell McAdam. The Work load is going through the roof...No installs are being done, and Verizon customers are suffering. Lowell must go.

For many jobs it won't take long to outperform the union workers. For others, the only way you have to even begin to compete is by effort as in taking twice as long to do something and just working more hours.

I think the biggest dilemma the union is facing is that every time they go on strike, they are giving the company an opportunity to look at dofferent ways of doing things. And their best and brightest management get to be out there in the thick of it. Was it no wonder that last strike management was grilled on ways to improve things and then changes were put into motion.

The longer the union strikes, the deeper they dig their hole. The world is changing, and unfortunately there are many people who depend on these jobs who are going to face a harsh reality when the union fails to meet their expectations as it most surely will.

If the OP cared that much about the customer, he/she would not be on strike. Such a passive aggressive poster.

@GYhJutX-1svf. Thi F&^CKing Idiot is an out and out liar. Fios training was 4.5 days and pole climbing 2. The instructors were very good, the students were not ready. In earlier training for strike duty you had to complete something on the order of about 30 - 40 hours of basic electricity and basic telecom before you could go through a week of copper training - WITH Troubleshooting - and then if you could pass the troubleshooting exam, you could go to 10 day FiOS training. This EWA bunch is not equipped to do the job. It is not the fault of the excellent instructors. it is the fault of the company which did not prepare them.

It is also the fault of the company of renegging on their promises to their employees - ie- the union workers. They want to screw them as bad as they screwed the managers in 2006. Go Union. Crush lowmacs and shamwow and bobbie's little gonads.

I haven't accomplished anything since the onset of this ewa

My training was months ago and I don't remember a thing. At the time none of us remembered anything because we thought there wasn't going to be a strike

I've had to move 3 times since arriving here in NYC from hotel to hotel to hotel. It's getting to all of us, we don't want to be here nor do your jobs. The stress alone is killing most of us and then not knowing if I I will have to come to the hotel after a 12 hour shift and move my belongings again adds to it. I just want to collapse in my bed and oversleep tomorrow.

I hope you guys win and Lowell ends this thing. Because for the first time in history Verizon might have mass quitings in a few days

Your statement is just false. The training was several weeks and many of us were trained within the last two months. Four days on the job and we are already out performing union employees who have been doing this for decades.

Smg, my friend. Are you sincere in your post or nonchalant?

Again, it's a whole different world than in that training lab or watching it on a video. We are not trained for half the stuff I've seen already, and i haven't seen much. P.S the Hotel/Motel/Flop house they have us at is deplorable.

The training lasted for months. OMG it went on forever. People may be a little rusty, but they were definitely trained.

Get Bob out there then because you guys need all the help you can get. Oh I see it's a lot different in a controlled training environment isn't it?

Bob Maguire did an excellent job in training us on how to climb poles and use ladders. I love my boots too.
