Regional Bargaining Report # 61

The Union and the Company met today. The Union requested the meeting to again clarify our members’ issues for the Company. We explained how it appears Tami Erwin and Lowell McAdam don’t seem to understand what is going on at this table as they visit picket ines throughout the North and Mid-Atlantic Regions.

We highlighted our demands for additional jobs and work, improvements in the treatment of our members on the job, pension improvements and improvements in the RAMP process. We also addressed comments made by McAdam on our picket lines where he accuses the Union of providing false information to our members. Lowell told members that Vz. is not taking away job security and all of that stuff is just BS. We asked the Company to confirm who is correct – Lowell or what the Company has on the table. Vz. denied seeing the video and advised we have its proposal.

McAdam specifically stated to the picketers, the Company wants us to take the calls from customers and not the vendors. Yet when asked at the bargaining table the Company’s Chair clearly stated the Company’s call sharing proposal is intended to increase their ability to contract out our call center work, including moving that work out of the country.

How can you even begin to trust these people when they can’t even get their stories straight when feeding a line of crap to our members on the picket lines? Maybe if they focused more on making meaningful proposals rather than trying to confuse people with their corporate double talk we might have had a contract by now. Both Unions continue to be available to have constructive discussions associated with this contract to negotiate improvement for our members.

Keep up the tremendous work we hear about all across the Mid-Atlantic. Your actions and activity are what is going to win this fight and by all accounts your participation is having the intended impact that we need.

Blah...blah.... we are fighting for the middle class! If everyone was just ok with whatever, we would be getting paid 15hr and have Obama care. If people don't fight back against corporations they will continue to take.....take....take....while their profits go up.....up.....up....

Striking at a time when the labor workforce is at an all time low.....makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

Do you realize how many people are standing in line, right now, trying to get your job? The longer you strike, the greater the chance of you being replaced. The union folks do not seem to be in touch with reality...you are not entitled to more than what the market(supply/demand) dictates.

Why are you so surprised by the corporate double talk and are you not aware of the double talk from Union bosses(who are rich with your dues)? Verizon PAYS YOU for your work(very well, I might add) and YOU PAY the Union for their work and yet you trust the Union as if it were flawless? All parties involved are greedy, not just Verizon.

To those who are willing to be fired for the "Union" demands, why not just go find another job that has what you want....because you can't. You better start appreciating what you do have instead of feeding your "entitlement" attitude.

I'm not so ignorant as to think Verizon needs me or I will never get fired....so strike as long as possible. That way, I'm able to save some money for the time that I do get rif'd. In fact, the longer you strike the more able Verizon can operate without you. Your usefulness will end sooner than the greed on both sides. So if you are willing to strike to the end.....I am willing to work 12 hour days, away from my family to the end. Wow, I guess it's a win-win situation!!!!! STRIKE ON!!!!

Keep what we have now, bring back those laid off, full membership security, 5 year contract and $500 sign on for every week we're out. That's OUR best final offer!

Trust me when i tell you there are people out there that would rather see verizon win. They will pick a millionaire or a corporation over a regular joe everyday . Fully knowing that if the union doesnt get better pay or benefits they wont either. Its just the facts. They see you as the enemy. It will never change its been going on for thousands of years there will always be people who actually root for the bully in a fight. Hell during the 1770s there were people who actually went against their neighbors and family and sided with the king. It sounds crazy but its true. It might have to do with hope, that when the ceo or the bully or the king wins they will be rewarded .

We will stay out as long as it takes to get a fair contract. Trust me cwa will win.

You still don't get it do you? The CWA is finished at VZ. At the end of the month, those who want to keep their jobs will cross. Those who don't will be gone, for good. It doesn't matter how poorly the EWAs are doing or how many customers are leaving or what politicians show up on the line. VZ is selling the wireline side and getting rid of the CWA sweetens the pot. The CWA leadership knows this. That's why they didn't strike in August. But Bernie convinced them to go so he could get some free media points ahead of the NY primary. Was it worth it?

Will there be a rally on may 5th at shareholders meeting in New Mexico ? and Will we be locked out by then ?

Okay, so now we don't even know what are differences are.
