@GYGLcET-ueg conveyed all the thoughts i wanted to share but better.

CWA/IBEW' union employs a majority (please dont reference a small percentage of FiOS and ethernet install jobs as rebuttal. those make up <5% of 36,000 union jobs at VZ) of archaic skilled workers that can best be analogous to BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO STORE jobs. The UNION expects Verizon to keep these DVD VIDEO STORES and subsequent jobs open and active simply because these dated-skill workers have been hanging around for 20+ years milking a check at a VHS/DVD store. These near extinction jobs are paid extremely high with benefits that surpass most other companies in all industries. Unions complain of CORPORATE GREED, when in fact it will be ASSOCIATE GREED that ultimately triggers the demise of these questionable middle class jobs.

Many of my friends have to travel for their jobs, all over the country, all over the world. With Vz I don't have to travel. So a time like this if I have to put out more than usual, it's like I'm just doing what everyone else around here does every couple of weeks. I can deal with it.

Hey Union trolls,

Tell your kids why in few months you are losing your houses.

Hope you like living under a bridge.

BREAK THE SCUM, S-Head Union.

Dqx i really hope you don't have kids. Because seriously, who is the better father- the one who probably disagrees with a lot of things about the company but understands part of being a parent is making sacrifices and doing what it takes to be the best provider possible (such as not risking getting fired by refusing ewa assignments), or the one who leaves his family without a paycheck and medical benefits because he selfishly believes that he and his buddies are entitled to more than not just anyone else at his company but anyone else in America... I think Verizon embodies corporate greed in America today. And every decision the company makes about the future is worse than the last one. But guess what, it's their company, they can do whatever they want with it. Try asking some cops or teachers or firemen how their pensions are doing, or if they are paying more for medical these days. Oh but you would rather pay $1000/month for cobra then $100 for benefits that are as good or better than any company in America. All I see on here from Union people is history lessons about what unions have done in the past.. Key word - past. America is just not a nation of Union labor anymore. Do i think Lowell should be removed? Absolutely, because the decisions of him and his cronies are running the company into the ground. But at the end of the day he still signs my checks, which means i have to do what I'm told. What the Union has done by striking is essentially say "i dont like that you're trying to take away some things, so I'm just gonna stop working so you can take away EVERYTHING"... Cause guess what? That's ultimately what will happen. The company does not care about you. And right or wrong, they don't have to. This is the reality of what corporate America is today. And saying you don't have to accept that now because of what unions did 50 years ago is just irrelevant. Oh, and by the way, walking like zombies back and forth in front of an exit while somebody yells scab and somebody else films the cars driving through, is just simply pointless and stupid. Yes, Verizon will cave because you're name-calling. So yea, you're a MUCH better father dqx. Keep telling yourself that.

My daughters wike up sat and sun at 5 to have breakfast with me. When i got home they told me how glad they were that i closed 7 tickrts today... even though they dont know what it means. Guess my wife set them up to make me feel good.

I do miss my family but everyday gets easiers, tickets close out faster, and while i am not excited about it... we will be going solo soon.

Hope this gets settled soon, but in the mean time, glad to do my part and get a change of pace. Last week... day after day of project management conference calls,, today i got to use the bucket truck, climbed a telephone pole and cleared 5 tickets....... only at Verizon :-)

@nbk....making money...making money...making money... Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special with love, kindness ,care and being there for them, to be a DAD, and judging by your posts, your just a father.

All those other folks you are talking about currently have jobs and are providing for their family. If insurance is so bad, just drop it and get Obama care. Or through the union....they just sent a post that they have your back.

Well said.....last 2011 strike Union men brought their kids to stand in front of trucks. That is bringing in the kids and being a union parent.

Nothing like Union bring the kids into it. This whole strike is teaching my kids to understand that a job that's a privilege, not a right.
