My husband is currently an EWA worker (it sucks) but before he moved up he was an outside tech. Some of his old partners are currently on strike. We would like to do something for them as I cannot fathom the stress I would be under if our pay stopped. We are thinking a restaurant gift card but we are nervous that they might be insulted. Would you be?

@OP - WHEN / Not If your EWA husband is RIF'd this year when the strike ends ....be sure to save your post and read it again. ...also wait at your front for the union strikers to give you something
You idiot. Don't give them Anything....all they have to do is go back to work and they can have their groceries, meds, etc. The fat fu**'s need to walk that sh-- off on the line..... Giving them more coffee and donuts isn't going to help anything except their f---ing heart attack! Hey maybe that ain't all that bad.

Someone delivered pizza also. There's lots of things that would be appreciated. We always need water. If you're doing it for the right reasons, there's no need to ask. That said, I wouldn't announce that your husby is ewa, just deliver what you're going to deliver as a kind gesture. It's nice that you are able to see both sides.
Lots of people have been coming by the picket lines with jugs of D&D coffee, bagels, donuts, bottled water, and other food/beverages. That would certainly be a good gesture.

OP ... if you're sincere, my apologies for some of what has been said here. If not, then let the chips fall where they may. I am union and also have friends that are filling in on EWA. Best I can say is everyone's needs are different. I have been prepping and planning for this and am ready for the long haul. My needs are simple ... support us and don't screw us over. For your friends, you'll need to feel that out on your own. Food is a necessity. But, groceries go a lot farther than one night out. Thanks for being human.
