Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why would anyone with marketable skills stay with a company that treats them unfairly?

For the past several year, in January to February, just before bonus time, I've activated my resume on a couple of sites and pursued other employment opportunities until securing an offer with which I am satisfied. This requires keeping my resume up to date with courses and accomplishments and maintaining a network outside Verizon that is willing to support me with letters of recommendation. I'll admit that the older I get the harder this is to accomplish but it's well worth the effort. Why would anyone with marketable skills stay with a company that treats them unfairly?

The money. Verizon pays a little above market to make it difficult to leave. That was in the past. Now it is about making sure that the government has their way with the top execs. What a disaster they have been. Everything that they touch turns to crap. If it were not for the healthy dividend the stock would be in the toilet. Investors however continue to see it as a safe place to park money; well that was until last Wednesday. Let's see what happens this week.

@ucx So your reality hoping for someone else, the evil greedy company, to take care of you for the of your life? Counting on the government as well I suppose? Is this what unions breed? People who will always look to someone else to take care of them?

It's called a pension, if you knew how it worked you would not ask a stupid question.
