Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Give the techs and outside members the fair pay they deserve but the call centers can go

I agree that the union has skilled individuals that allow this company to grow and be successful. I also agree that those individuals deserved to be compensated like you would an electriction or plumber. It's a skill that you master after years on the job.

That being said I don't agree paying someone $35 an hour to pick up a phone and be rude to the customer. Not help them or grow the business. Do everything to avoid doing thier work and using the union to protect them. That's were I despise the whole thing. The techs are skilled workers that have been thru a lot and deserve the respect and compensation they earned. This is coming from a manager on EWA.

Telling you now this is why the call center jobs will be eliminated since anyone can do it. Doesn't take much to take a payment or look at an account. It's what the website does but no website can come out and repair your line when it's out.

Lol. No you know how many horror stories I hear from customers about these techs? I if the job was done right at the initial install the maybe we wouldn't need the fsc.

And for the record I've pulled cable for 10 years for 15-20 dollars an hour. I that's about what low voltage techs make

So we are both overpaid in the op analogy

Ok so because you can work at a Best Buy and answer tech questions means you deserve $35 an hour? Don't dare get my fair skin outside. I will burn and break a nail. You sissy bitches are not anything an app can't replace. If the job was done right why do we need to send a tech out to the house to reboot the router. Keep thinking to deserve that pay it will be much clearer soon enough. Try looking at what Comcast pay and then tell me if you are over paid bitches.

Techs do hard work and interact with people. They don't sit behind the computer and take thiers breaks with no customer face to face.

Obviously original post never worked in FSC! One must stay current with FIOS Quantum upgrades, mobile apps for tablets and cellphones. Setting up email on a multitude of various tablets and phones. Not mention the questions of all sorts on a multitude of laptop and desktop computers. Lest we also forget the GTA for VISS installs and problems. Do you think all this knowledge to help customers comes by osmosis? Then let's move on to setting up another vast array of smart TV, video game apps, and home theatre systems. Last but not least....yes you do get quite a few calls to troubleshoot good old landline phones. I invested considerable time and money to educate myself outside of Verizon time so I could better assist customers. It was a positive feeling to resolve issues namely the elderly trying to understand all this technology. In closing......in my FSC perhaps 3-4 managers out of @20 could actually sit down and do this job or offer assistance to navigate the many systems we needed to access to do our jobs I understand that nearly half where let go end of 2015. Not worth the money......unless you have done this job successfully, you need to shut your pie hole!

I'll tell you this about outsourcing our call centers. As a technician, I have seen how our customers are increasingly outraged at having to deal with foreign customer service/tech support personnel who they can't understand and who are unable to understand that their scripts are not addressing the problem the customer is having. It has gotten to the point that I spend more time on more jobs having to listen to the horror stories and trying to turn around the poor customer experience before I can even get them to explain what they need.

Some H1B probably posted this and shows how little regard this company has for its cutomers the the United States.

VZ is unAmerican as are many of their managers. This post is the proof.

This one needs to stay on top so the political campaigns can find it easily, though I have a feeling that the curry community scabs posted this.

lowmac likes puffing up how patriotic Verizon is. All one has to do is read what these management shills posts here to understand how little regard this company has for American and Americans.

I don't want to speak to some third world muggle when I need a real customer service representative. More proof that Verizon hates America and Americans. Go union! Make the scabs pay everyday. And remember what these scabs really think about America!

Good idea! Anyone who is for outsourcing jobs to another country does not deserve to be called an American.

All of these d^ckhead scabs that posted in favor of moving Verizon jobs abroad deserve to be heckled and hassled by the unions and all Americans until they draw their last breaths this country. In fact those comments will be copied and forwarded to all of the presidential candidates for them to see what Verizon really thinks about America and Americans.

I have to partly agree with this as a tech. They are important jobs to keep but they should be priced about $25 an hour. There are inside associates making more than I am and I'm paid only a little below a TTA.

Those picket lines would be awfully small if there were only outside plant workers on them. We are all links in the same chain

I agree with the original post. The call center isn't supposed to be a life career. These positions are supposed to entry level. I did work there. I didn't make a career out of it. If you did than you have no ambition.

Not all of all center jobs are the same. FSC handles a lot more technical calls versus the EVRC. Anyway we pay our dues just like techs. And we have to deal with a customer that job got no accessed even though they were home all day waiting for the tech.

Funny. I bet if you worked in the call center and your livelihood depended on it, you wouldn't be making such a statement as this. The call centers create much of the revenue for the company. It's also a harder job than you give it credit for.
