ANYONE, who is willing to do union work or cross a picket line during a strike. You have no courage, no self respect, no dignity, just the excuse that "I don't have any choice." Newsflash, you do have a choice. You and others can stand together and say NO! Tell me, how will this corporate giant continue to operate if it has no employees, if it fires everyone for standing up for what is right? WE, ALL OF US, BOTH UNION AND NON-UNION ARE VERIZON. Lowell and his cronies will continue to take advantage of all of us as long as we allow it.

For the hard working union folks who are on strike because they have to be, I feel for you. Make the best choice for yourself because ultimately you are the one who cares about your family and that they depend on.
For the others who like to blame their problems on everyone else, they are losers and you and I know it. If they have a beef with the leaders, then fight against the leaders. But no, the bunch of cowards have to go against other employees who are pretty much stuck. Typical for the bunch of lame-ohs they are. Boo hoo. You don't get your own way, you don't get the company to cowtail to you because you've done this or that in your history of employment. What a bunch of entitled people.
@tim, thank you for confirming that the jobs of the striking workers are more important than the jobs of those on EWA's
Sorry, Fightthepower, but you are incorrect by NLRB regulation. There's a huge and potentially dangerous difference between shifting an existing, non-Union employee in to cover a strike-vacated role versus VZ hiring someone, outside of VZ, post-strike, to fill a striker's role. Limitations exist on what the Union can do exist, just as there are limitations on VZ. Queensbury Rules but not for boxing this time.
Scabs were used by unscrupulous bosses in the day to break unions and it worked because no jobs went uncovered. When VZ deploys EWA, they simply move the vacancy from one spot to another. One could argue that when VZ moves an EWA employee in to cover a Striker role, that's an explicit demonstration that the Striker's contribution / role is more important to the Company than what the EWA was otherwise doing. No rational being wants to be an EWA nor does anyone WANT them to be EWAs, for a variety of reasons. Union, please work your plan and stay the course....you can succeed.
@owf, keep working on your reading comprehension. gsu is telling you that once you start working 72 or more hours per week, you are taxed at a rate of nearly 50% which means you are pretty much working some of those extra hours for free.
40 hours per day? Humm, I think somebody's math sucks.
Big fat paycheck....wait till you see what Uncle Sam takes off you in taxes. Do the math and see how many hours you worked for free. Got forced after Hurricane Sandy for weeks to work 72 hours per week. I effectively worked 40 hours per pay free after taxes. All work and no play gets old real fast......you'll see!!
I think unions are organized crime and all the weak minded spineless members are fools. Your silly picket line means nothing to me, nor does your words.
Unions are in decline, can't see them doing any better in the future
Gol. Most of them can get either higher position or higher paychecks after took RIF package. From city to city, it is their choice. Relocating our whole family because of we getting a better job in another city is not uncommon in US. Just same as our kids go to college, find job and get married in other cities other states.
Ha ha ha thisOP is a putz. Listen CWA has about 700,000 unions nationwide ask them to walk out of their jobs in solidarity before you ask us.
@wxm, so what your saying is that if you do a good job and your employer is extremely profitable, you don't deserve the opportunity of a career with that employer? You would rather keep taking severance every so often and move from job to job, city to city. The whole time having more and more stripped away. You're right, that definitely sounds like a great way to live.
Bec. RIF packages are giving out every year. Every Verizon non-union employees knows that, the whole planet knows that, the whole Galaxy knows that. So what? RIF package is based on how many years these employees work for Verizon. Some of them can walk away with 90K or more. And most of them can either find another position in the other companies or start their own business. Getting RIF package is not the end of the world.
@ulr & bnl, your reading comprehension skills aren't very good. By us striking we are already sticking up for you. Beyond that, it is up to all those who are non-union to come together and fight for yourselves. oIo
Where were you OP during the last management RIF you BS'ing Coward. Every time I start to feel sorry for the CWA I just watch one of those YouTube videos where they harrass management on the street and all empathy disappears. Do your job numbnuts and we won't have to.
What a stupid asspost. If I leave my EWA assignment and get fired are you going to stay out for me? We all know the answer. Try getting a real job somewhere loser if you hate it here so much. You are a JOKE.
SCAB from Merrian-Webster's Dictionary
a worker who refuses to join a labor union (2) : a union member who refuses to strike or returns to work before a strike has ended (3) : a worker who accepts employment or replaces a union worker during a strike (4) : one who works for less than union wages or on nonunion terms
@nuu, obviously you weren't following this board at end of 2015. Post after post from wireless employees talking about unionizing to stop the constant deterioration of their work force. Sounds like you enjoy the dryrun from Lowell and his cronies. Bend over, it will be coming at you again soon.
The only complaints we heard is from union. At least EWAs don't complain about those big fat OT paycheck.
Stop complaining you have no pension. Stop complaining you pay too much for healthcare. Stop complaining your jobs are being taken by H1-B's. Stop complaining about your friends & family being laid off. Stop complaining about your management being incompetent and making your life miserable. Stand up for yourself and stop being a scab.
The CWA is chock full of useful idiots led by a modern day Tokyo Rose. Dunno about the IBEW, nobody really ever heard from them...
Definition of an lazy selfish idiot.
The original poster.
While I fully agree with you that I have a choice. What makes you think that I would ever side with or hide behind a cowardly socialist group like the CWA? Yes, I have a choice. I choose to work hard for myself, my family, and my company.
You have Union behind you. How about non-unions? They will be fired if they don't do the strike duty. Don't tell me after these non-unions get fired and you guys will take care of them.
This is pure gold coming from somebody that will have his job back sooner or later. And people wonder why some on the exempt side of the house have issues with the union. Grow up OP.
