You've already seen "title" changes at the beginning of the 1st quarter. Many of those affected were smart enough to find a different job/position because they knew they were going to be on the chopping block this year and into the next (2017). Need a sign that the end is near for you? Ask yourself, why hasn't the 2016 budget been "approved" yet?

Right.
There is no age discrimination going on. Young workers are getting laid off just as much as older workers. Just because you're older and you got laid off doesn't mean the company is targeting people your age; it just means your number was up.
The last comment represent the general ignorance about layoff laws, These unannounced cuts, raise issues of disclosure and the treatment of workers, I argue that the federal law requiring warning of certain kinds of layoffs should be overhauled to cover smaller job cuts which amount to Thousansd nationally, something AT&T is really good covering up, while also discriminating agains an aging workforce, in total disregard for transparency and decency
The notification law, known as the WARN Act, requires 60 days’ notice, but the events that require notification are site-specific, a plant closing, a layoff of 500 or more people at one location, or a cut of at least one-third of the work force at a site.
What about If notification is not required, the standard practice at large companies is to give 30 days’ notice before a layoff. Some states have passed their own WARN Acts to cover more layoffs. California, for example, now requires a WARN notice when a company cuts 50 or more workers in one place. Last month, New York enacted a law requiring 90 days’ notice when laying off 250 or more workers at a site.
Interesting. I only know of one person who had a title change and subsequently found a new job.
sweeeet!
We had a lot of contractors leave who were supporting Supply Chain apps. Hopefully, new replacements will come in and be trained to do the job. We as AT&T employees do not have enough man power to do it all. Running on skeleton crew as it is.
LOL. Exactly right. Some might last until 2020, but not past that date. Within Supply Chain we tend to do TechMs work and work for 3-5 people but that will not persuade AT&T to change course. We will see more and more changes and even Tier 2+ will eventually get outsourced.
