The anti Union commenters on this site don't want the public to know that these striking workers also take care of the precious cell phone network and FIOS. It doesn't fit with the false narrative of dinosaur workers in the money losing side of the business.

Yeah, maybe 50 of the 39,000 people on strike work wireless network. Huge impact.
we have about 15 different fiber providers to the cell tower, in cali vzw runs their own show with fiber and use contractors for splicing. face it guys, you're no longer needed and very expensive
Yes and no. The CWA does all the testing and splicing for Verizon fiber on the East coast. But they don't get their hands dirty. All the digging and placing is done by subcontractors. Of course now the subcontractors are testing and splicing. So...
When they spend their days on the eweb telling Lowell how magnificent he is and how great it is to be a part of the VTEAM,there's no time to truly understand how things work. To make things simple,wireless works on magic from unicorn sperm and fairy dust. Nevermind that wireline was who funded the initiation of that business. Nevermind that all the towers are connected with fiber. Nevermind that the wireline workers still maintain the infrastructure that enables this all to work.
My grandmother's p.o.t.s.(plain old telephone service,for the people who sit in cubicles) line isn't making Lowell as much money as the smartphone he wished she had,but he wants to slap 5g antennas on poles with fiber laid out for fios by those pesky,unionized,wireline workers.
When Lowell moves on from here,he should be given a show on food TV because he sure is good at cooking things.
Verizon will do it with the new non union workers they hire .
