WELL TRAINED REPLACEMENTS

Sewerage being installed on my street. My neighbors Fios went out. Took four replacement workers four hours to figure out it was the drop and replace it. That's twelve hours folks. One of Lowell's crack replacement teams. As a retired splicer, was free entertainment.

Somebody said Fios is too hard to handle?! What a stupid word?! Most of the EWA are not only managers, but also LANDLINE technicians. They started as technicians and be a manager after years of hard work and getting higher education. Most of them are 50' or 40'. Don't comparing them with those no working experience 20' and 30' who just finish their Bachelor or Master Dregree. What a fool!

I remember last strike the call center managers were so thankful to have a bunch of MBAs, CPAs, and other leaders on board that once they got up to speed they were grilling them on ways to improve the system and processes. They didn't want the management employees to leave. Said they were the best employees they ever had. Imagine, 2 weeks in and you're already a value add. There are some jobs are belong to the union guys who will always do it better. But many other jobs don't need some union just sucking dollars out of the system. Call center union? Give me a break! Those folks better get back on the job quick or they will see even more jobs go bye bye as the company realizes even more that they are expendable.

Cant wait till they start activating ONT's and knocking customers out of service. Not knowing the ins and outs of FIOS this will be a regular occurrence. And once they install service on someone else's ONT thats when the fun starts lol. Not to mention FIOS speed issues and set top box activations.. good luck fellas.

Ran into 2 scabs at Wendy's just a bit ago. I asked them how their day's going. They both laughed and said they were stuck on a job the entire day and have to go back again tomorrow. Now that's what I call customer service, 13+ hours for two workers and the customer still has no service. I wonder if we are telling customers that a triple play install is now taking 10-12 hours instead of 3-5? Lowell, Bob, you're doing a great job.

1fpx couldn't be more correct. None of us think we're better than you. None of us want to take your jobs. We don't think your job is easy. The end.

@1zfy no, we won't do it like you. That's virtually impossible. I don't think anyone but a blowhard would claim they could. But because there are blowhards on both side of this fence, it's now a "thing". Yes the company is going to say BAU, because they have too. The regular people they are sending out to actually do the job know better and just want to get through their day, their shifts, and be able to get home to family. No one really truly cares about being "better" at your job.

@1esf Umm.. that's not even remotely close. It's been a little hectic for day #2, but we're finding our stride and it's actually a pretty easy job so far. We're hearing from upper management that we're doing a kick assjob and they couldn't be happier. Give us two weeks and we'll have most of the backlog you guys left behind taken care of too. I think the difference is the work ethic in the shop. People keep commenting how nice it is to have us around. Look out union.. I think people are getting used to you guys being gone already!

All the Basking Ridge facility, all the VPs were holed up in a meeting room sifting through trouble tickets, completely overwhelmed. They spent HOURS trying to figure out a "system" . There is so much freaking chaos, with most people hiding out where the free catering is at. Lowell, in the meantime, is glued to his phone on "update calls", all of these reports and spreadsheets people are wasting their time on. Rock on Union.

the company cares when the shareholder is not happy. You and your buddy taking 16hrs to fix something and not getting to those installs, that are still coming in, is a problem.

@1yto I don't really think people believe Craft to be easy, it's just that is all I hear on this board. "You'd never be able to do this or that like we do"....dude....we don't want too. That's the point. We don't want your job, nor do we think we can do it better. We are called in for a job while you strike....that's it. We don't care.

"the company doesn't care how long"

Absolutely right. They don't care if it's fixed tomorrow or 10 days from now.

1.5 hours is union shop time, the company doesn't care how long because the customer doesn't give a rats asswho fixes it as long as it's fixed.

...and the company is paying all of them while you're sitting there with your hands in your pocket. Did the job get fixed, is the customer happy their service is back? The 'scabs' are rolling in dough while you're picketing making 100-200 bucks a week, that's still taxed. Hmmm, hold out til college starts and let's see where that middle class rating hits. They fixed my issue in no time. I just think this fight is higher than anyone out there.

4 replacement workers 4 hours each. That is 16 man hours not 12. With those math skills third grade was probably the toughest 3 years of your life

They should have fixed it in one hour thirty minutes like I would have. From what I hear the EWA is just as good if not better than me.

The loss of customer service by this work stoppage on the part of Lowell and Mark is deplorable.

The funny thing is you act like it's a big deal that four white collar managers taking the place of trained skilled workers don't understand the job as well. Is that a surprise?

Lets be honest, no one expects people with little or no training to come in and be as good as people who have done the job for years. So acting like that's some sort of a victory is pretty stupid.

But I will say that the fact that anyone at all can come in and do the union jobs just shows that those employees aren't irreplaceable. If the person who cuts my yard quits and I replace him I probably won't do as good as job as he does, but I could still do the job. If we was holding out for ridiculous benefits that even my accountant and doctor don't get I'd laugh out loud in his face and let him walk.
