Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Lowell

How do you reconcile your "investment in America" with your company's stated policy on refusal to support/upgrade existing wireline service customers on copper, and your demand that customers "upgrade" to fiber - an upgrade that deprives them of guaranteed connectivity in the event of power outages (since fiber provides no power to home terminals). The internet is full of Verizon (and ATT, too, to be fair) customers facing problems with your copper-line services, around lack of maintenance, service failure, and excessive sales pressure. That's not investment: a more blunt fellow might call that "gouging".

@GUShkhR-sdg I cannot wait until your ticket it punched and you get laid off. And make no mistake, you will be laid off at some point in your career. On that day, I hope you remember your posts here, because on that day you will receive your due justice.

Well if Verizon is going to invest in anything, it shouldn't try to put a band aid on an outdated copper network that no one wants. Where it makes financial sense, Ethernet / Fiber should be deployed. Google is going to come to town and put everyone out of business anyway, I don't think they are going to offer $38/hour, free medical, robust pension, enhanced 401k etc. The techs at Verizon have skills that were desirable in 1988, a year when people were demanding second lines for their high tech fax machine. By today's standards, the field techs are completely obsolete.

Was the PSC fault, not Verizon's, a profit driven Enterprise for the Stock holders
