Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Just canceled my $160/month fios service. On hold for more than a hour. What's the problem, I thought they had our jobs covered.

"What's your reason for wanting to cancel your services today?"

NO CONTRACT, NO FIOS!

@1hwc, not that it's any of your business, but I'll actually be paying someone out of pocket to cover my strike duty while I'm gone. Let me walk you through things. I bust my @$$ year round, working 60-70 hours a week, so that I can take good care of my family and enjoy life outside of work. Whenever you plan and pay for a vacation several months in advance, that's not being "out for myself," it's simply called planning ahead. You're welcome.

To 1gtv,

Going to Aruba?! Don't you think you should be present on the picket line? Seems like you are one of those idiots that is only out for yourself. ! Are you going to miss bowling night in Brewster?

@1usj, well scab here's a little math question for you. If union worker "A" saves $200 per week for 3 years, how much money will he have in his strike fund? The answer scab, $31,200.......cash money. By the way, enjoy your scab duty, I'm heading to Aruba for 10 days. See you in a couple weeks, I'll be the tall, dark and handsome one calling you what you are. A WORTHLESS SCAB!!!

Smart move OP. You'll need the money next month when you're signing up for the Bronze Plan. May want to have a garage sale while you're at it, those Exchange care deductibles and out of pocket expenses are fooking steep.

And people wonder why most of the population despises unions. These people want everything under the moon and do nothing to earn it. The union protects the worst and laziest employees but holds back the top performers who have less tenure.

If the strikers weren't cranking the line and it was a normal load they would be fine... All smoke and mirrors.

@etd - Nobody is taking away your money for retirement. You should read what was offered again.

It takes a day or 2 to get everyone in place, then customer service will be at an all time high.

@pns - Yeah I took my severance, dropped my Verizon for T-Mobile, sold my VZ stock and got another job with better pay, benefits and bonuses. So I'm not really worried about who is going to hire me next. But I may have a position for your wife when you get RIF'd .... although it may not be a very flattering position, but I'm sure she'll be happy to accept it.

@pns, actually I'm just going to rely on my unlimited T-Mobile 4glte service ($50/month) until my Comcast service is installed tomorrow by a union technician. As for the jerking off part.....I'd like to put your Mrs. on the phone right now, but she's kind of busy. Now get that triple play done scab!

Wow, with no FIOS you will just be sitting around jerking off and waiting to drink beers in the garage scratching your asswonder who in the world would hire you now.

The nerve of these terrible union people wanting to have money for retirement. Shame on you. Didn't you know that the new millennium American way is to either live at home with mommy & daddy until they drop dead and then work until you too drop dead? C'mon man, get with the Credo!

pth/oxa ---- no union employee is answering the phone today, your issue is with Verizon and their replacement workers and their overseas employees

@GTglkGb-pth oh - I dunno, but it sounds like Verizon's customer service is much worse today. The company screwed up bad and none of the politicians will help them out because of all of the offshoring of jobs to 3rd world hell holes. It will be intresting to find out how many millennial snowflakes resign over the next couple of weeks.

If the strike is prolonged, the OP is going to be cancelling a lot more services than FiOS. Might need to sell his bowling ball, too

Why would anyone do business with a company that has unions?

I certainly wouldn't want to depend on service from a company whose employees think they deserve to have better pay and benefits than normal people do, and who will walk off their jobs because they have to contribute to their healthcare benefits like everyone else does. Heck, these union people get both a 401k AND a pension yet they walk off the job?

Funny, the non-union companies don't seem to have this problem. Why is it the companies with unions are the ones with reputations for having the worst and least dependable customer service?

The people contracted to answer the phones overseas are busy herding some camels that got loose near the central watering hole. We will have them back online shortly.
