Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Billion dollar company, paying Billion's in dividends!

It seems a little funny, all the post here about how much Verizon makes and how much they pay in Executive compensation and Dividends to stock holders. All of the Verizon CWA and IBEW Union Represented employees that participate in the company's matching 401k plan ARE STOCK HOLDERS. As the company does well, the stock price goes up and the dividend payout grows. Greater the growth, the more wealth the 401k acquires.

Is it not in your own best interests to see to it that the company continues to be productive and profitable? Just a thought.

What about all the debt? Did you want to help make that go up too?

How about wireless pays wireline back all the money it used to build up wireless, even before it was verizon, Bell Atlantic mobile was the best wireless company.

The profit from the wireline was taken to build the wireless.

@GTbFf1m-tod is one of those managers that give us all a bad name, and does not likely hold an MBA nor likely involved in these matters at Verizon. I don't wish to give myself away but I am more than familiar with these topics, hold advanced degrees in the subject matter.

But for a simpleton like you dividends are paid from the retained earnings/profits if the company which are given back to shareholders. After all they do own the company, so it is only right. And if the profits are not dividended, the company might piss the money away on something stupid like go90.

Executive compensation, on the other hand, is an expense, and expenses reduce profits. There are many strong arguments that increased executive comp can leads to increase revenues which would tend to increase profits, growth and stock price, but we really have not seen much of that at Verizon in many years.

Before you make such observations please note how much of that dividend falls into every1's pockets.

compare everyone else vs the directors and above.

and if you dont knwo teh numbers please refer to the numbers mentiond in a post here a few days ago.

Most other companies are aghast at how much money the directors and above make in VZ. The rest of teh folks are comparable in numbers but once you make director u make "shT loads of money".

ikj,

My guess is you never went to school.

The profit of the wireless side, does not affect the declining landline side.
