Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Stay Strong!

From one union person to ALL of the Verizon Union employees out there getting ready to strike tomorrow..have patience & vigilance during this process. Know that your strength in numbers fighting for what is right & just will prevail! Verizon is an extremely profitable corporation and unfortunately chooses to only truly reward the few greedy & selfish that are at the top of their corporate ladder. If Verizon felt they could replace all of their union employees when the contract expired last year then they would have. Guess what..they can't! Know that when the strike starts and these temp workers along with management attempt to do the work you all do on a daily basis will just result in frustration putting big pressure on the company to come to a fair agreement. Stay strong!!

I'm a union member. Ive seen friends strike at northwest airlines. Everyone was replaced. Didn't work out well. Mediation stinks but might be best option. Good luck.

Wish you were right @lou but unfortunately you are not. They can hire permanent replacements if workers go out on strike. Look it up.

@nza...take a course on labor law. they can't hire permanent in neither situation. If lockout, they face major PR issues if they attempt to hire permanent and will lose in court. Strike allows only temporary. Hate when people post stupidity like you did

Interesting note - if locked out, Verizon can only hire temp replacements. If you strike, they can hire permanent ones.

And stay out until it's over! Give up those medical benefits if you have to! When the bank calls for the payment on the new car or the house, you just tell them "I'M ON STRIKE", they'll understand!
