Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The cause of all this madness is completely and totaly verizons fault. It is corporate greed at its finest.We have given them our past and they want to steal our future.

We all must be morons, mediation, come on. Now the company can claim, see we called for mediation we are the good guys here. Again, me union guy me stupid me not smart like Marc.

You betcha! I have done the training maybe five times, and I get messed up. These folks may fix a couple but they will be shocked when they get up on their first real cross box and try to navigate. It was so bad in some parts of Jersey last time that the company actually had managers giving people wireless phones because there was no one to fix the wireline. True story. They will be doing similar things this time too.

I saw some managers gearing up for outside plant classes today at a location in a CO. Kind of late for that now? These are the kind of skills that take a lot of practice to master.

Union said that doing mediation can work against members keeping what they currently have. Stay the course.

Right! They waited and waited and the only one who showed up to the bargaining table were Tinkerbell and Cinderella's fairy godmother. Maybe the tooth fairy will leave a contract under your pillow tonight, sent to your by your honest and trustworthy union.

Reed is scared to death on this one, because they really blew it. They were much more ready last year than they are now. There is NO WAY that the company can live up to the spin about "Service remaining normal" during the strike because of the thousands of employees trained. Thoudands of lawyers and HR people and tax accountants. All good people, but almost none of them were out there in 2011 and the training for this stike was far too light.
