Job, politics of pushed away, people bypassing and reaching out to the super bosses several levels up, non-functioning getting rewarded, highly qualified folks thrown on backbenches to cater for their own kind... It is more than a hell to work in such an environment.@

I have a feeling that most union and non-union folks could get along just fine out in the real world. We are each other's neighbors and probably the people we sit next to on the bleachers watching our kids play sports. Remember that none of the people calling the shots on either side are going to be doing the dirty work.

plo / jem , more ignorance, you don't anyone your blogging about yet you call them "uneducated and unskilled" and "can't get a job with the education and skills" , indicates you have a very low intelligence or mentally challenged , Many Vz union employees are college grads and have MBA's.
I think a big part of the problem is that many of us were raised on the notion of loyalty to your employer and then loyalty in return. You do your best, and the company looks out for you. Period.
It seems that in the current world, that idea is becoming less and less realistic. Is the employee wrong for resisting this change? Is the company wrong to want to strive to maximize profits? Is management wrong to take chances as they try to retain their foothold in today's economy? Are the union leaders wrong to try to maintain their place and influence? Has it all becoming a big power struggle?
I don't think there is an easy answer for either side.
No law against a company that treats their employees like crap. Most companies would not be able to maintain a workforce because of employee turnover. Only reason Verizon does is because it overpays for the uneducated and unskilled babies who like to beg and cry for ma to keep taking care of them instead of taking charge of their own lives.
Get another JOB.

I have done that several times in the past. If it gets any worse (time will tell), I may also do that.
Prepair yourself, if you do not do that, you have no one to blame but yourself.

@jem, no you douche, what pdu is saying is that Verizon doesn't have a right to treat it's employees like $hit just because they are well paid and then after dedicating 10, 15, or 20 years of your life, simply throw you out on your a$$ in order to save a quick buck. The answer to corporate harassment isn't, "go work somewhere else." The answer to corporate harassment is to put an end to it.
It isnt the same company I started with in 96. It's sad, we were a family.
So, are you saying that you can not find a different job that will pay you as much for the skills/education you have but Verizon should?
This is in response to everyone who responds "get a new job" or "cry me a river" "SCREW YOU" until you walk in our shoes and experience what we do, then consider yourself lucky you don't work here. And that you don't need to face a possible midlife change of employment when your the breadwinner of your family and have little mouths to feed at home and worry about how your going to pay for college so your kids don't grow up and go work for Verizon or a company like them.
It is hell and will never become an employee friendly company again. Good luck waiting for that to happen.

Seriously, this current CEO has made things unbearable. I really don't understand how the executive board doesn't do something about this. Not a good idea to have the whole place scared and angry.
Yes I agree... it's sad because it doesn't have to be that way....no trust between management and associates....something needs to change
