Nice. I finally read some intelligent comments with valuable insight from last night, only to have them followed up by juvenile replys in which these folks never really quite understood what was realy being put out on the table.

wht...I am doing it MY WAY not yours. The change I want to see is the one you are most afraid of. We ARE putting it on the line, it is YOU who are the coward.

Don't forget to add to this list of salaries, "Larry Cohen, $199,706"

Wait. Did I just read, you don't want to leave the company because you would lose your senority 'benefits' and have to start all over?

How is that different that upper management not wanting to give up their wages and incentives?

Look, plain and simple, don't like it - change your life or change where you work or better yet, become the next Verizon Director or President. Make a difference, put your money where your mouth is. Be the change you want to see in the world! Put on your big boy/girl panties and fix it instead of whining all the damn time!

We tell foreigners every day, don't like the USA, politics or flag - THEN LEAVE.

Please strike soon, I can use the OT. Maybe then I too can cry about working OT, nights and weekends --- all the way to the bank $$$

-ski BS! Management fools around in the gym all day. They make themselves look busy but most of them have much less real bearing on the company than the craft workers.

i see both side here, but the part that is broken is Director level and higher vs. those that are lower (and lower being union or non union). I'm non union, and I don't agree with the way LTI works at all. Most mgmt level folks work a lot harder than the Director levels, and we don't get a taste of their compensation, we don't get the guaranteed 6mo severance package, the automatic vesting of LTI if let-go, etc... There is way to big of a gap in benefits between manager and director+. The difference here is the union is a voice that can make a statement heard, where a manager just keeps their head low.

Fair statement, however, i would suspect many of the union folks have made this their career. We are "at will" employees, and can pick-up easier at another company. If they leave the comapny, they would start at the bottom in the new employers union again. As a result, its not practical. Everyone has an opinion, and there is never a perfect path, but walking away is usually not the answer. For example, i would love to get out of telecom, but i would be starting my career over, and that makes no sense in my life situation. No different then most who may not agree with company direction or compensation. The way upper mgmt flips at Verizon, the company direction changes every year or two anyway, so riding the wave out makes more sense. Not to mention, no one usually agrees with everything by someone, maybe you agree with 85%, or 65%, etc....but you don't throw the towel in because it's not 100%. If you are married, you may not agree with everything your spouse does, but you pick and choose your battles if you want to make it last, and you do the right thing in the end.

Uup. Management also works nights and weekends and so forth for the needs of the business as well. All without the benefit of compensation in hourly ot, so forgive me for not having that much sympathy. I don't doubt you work hard for your money, but so does every one else. Stop with the working class hero crap, it's an old false wives tale.

Just go work somewhere else, no one is forcing you to work at VZ. Why would you work somewhere that you don't agree how they run their business and your compensation.

But the differance is a union worker slaves himself to make over 100k. Mandatory ot weekends workin till alimes of the night ect ect. For the "needs of the business"

These numbers are valid when looking at base salary+commission or STI (depending on roll). Manager roll is more like $75k on the low end all in, and very few are on that high end....most closer to $120 all in. More then a union job on average, but there are some in the union beating the manager average. However what is missing from this statement is at the director level and higher, in addition to what is listed to those numbers of $200K+ is what is called LTI (long term incentive)....and that is where the wheels fall off. This is a 3yr stock vesting grant plan annually that has historically paid out 2 to 3x's their base salary each year. So if a low end director is making a base of say $175k, then picks up a commission or STI of another $50k, and then gets a 2x payout of LTI on base, that is a $575k payout that year. And now you know why "managers" are really very different than "directors" at Verizon.....it's LTI that is the difference maker. While the average manager is viewed as a step up to the average union roll, they are a lot closer then most think. LTI is what needs to be shared at all levels, and at what point is that considered crazy money. Not many people are worth that kind of money when it comes to LTI, and its no wonder a director level never leaves voluntarily, because who would walk away from that kind of money. And this is also why the manager level has so much turnover.

looks pretty straight forward to me. no exec or manager should have anything to compain about regarding EWA. and why no director or above cares about a pension. considering the various contributions to revenue or bottom line, it looks like there a way too many over paid people at Verizon and likely a significant number of underpaid.

That makes sense. BRs parking lots seem to have more BMWs, Audis, MBs and Lexus than any other office I visit. That place is like Oz.
