Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Union should wait for lockout.

With the all politicians and media soon to be in place Union should hold rallies around these events and then get the word out to the public about how this billion dollar a month profit company is doing to the middle class employees that built, run and maintain their damn network. Tell the world VZ is going to lock us out because we wont their demands.

yzh is the exact reason why Verizon is such a crappy place now, because idiot like yzh knows very little about the company, the customers and the business. What a moron.

why would anyone defend the greedy and stupid union.

Wireless profits mean nothing for the wireline side.

The reve is dropping, so the need for the lazy union members is also dropping.

bmo, they won't defend Verizon, they will completely ignore the issue. Bernie will say something of course and when the company's PR machine starts churning out stories of how much money and benefits you really get compared to the rest of the country, nobody will care. You are in the top 1/3 tier of earners in the US. You really think the average person is going to care?

There will be no lockout. The company will declare an impasse and they can impose their last best offer. You will be working under the companies demands which you are currently rejecting. The comspny has delecsre this is ther last best offer and if the union either does not offer it to their members for ratification or the member reject it the company can call an impasse.

Some people have posted that you have to negotiate for a year or go to mediation first and this is absolutely false,...a simple google search will prove this.

.

However a an application of economic force (i.e., a strike) can break an impasse which is probably why the union says they are going to strike.

Not one of these politicians, Republican or Democrat could possibly defend Verizon in a strike at this point in the primaries. With the nation screaming about corporate greed, and American jobs being sent over sea's it would be political suicide. This would be a great time for the Union to strike and bring into light Verizon's Greed. Each politician would have no choice but to denounce Verizon. The Union should not let this golden opportunity pass.

The company will not lock the union and craft associates out. The don't have to. On May 20th the company will just unilaterally declare the contract invalid and change the benefits package per the HR notification. If the workers stay, then they arguably accept the new terms, and if they don't then they are on stike. That simple.

That is why if the unions were smart then they would declare a stike in the middle of the day in the middle of the week and not give the company any time to get all of their management minions in place. There was always fear of needing managers wandering at a moments notice into the city's to rescue trucks etc. It also takes a couple of days to get mangers in place.

This should be interesting. Because I know that there is a significant corps of managers that are cheering for the union and will not anywhere as hard as in 2011 or 1989. Here's hoping that the unions drive lomac into the tarmac.

The things about this strategy is it wil only work if people care. There are far more people living in poverty then middle class. I see people who hear what you guys are paid and receive and say your overpaid. Then the benefit info comes out and now you sound spoiled. Like little brats who cry because Santa didn't bring you enough toys like last year.

Get a grip. There are people out there who pay for insurance and don't get a pension and forget about tuition reimbursement.

The only come back is " go union" well look at where that got Bianca from wireless. FIRED!!!!!!!!!

Be grateful for what you have because like it or not the end is coming.
