The original poster is a kool aid drinking turd. Most managers with any significant time know what this is all about. It is about the pension and retiree health care. The current rate for retirees is more than $20,000+ per year for retired managers. Some benefit. And what happened to our pension? It was "robbed" all because of a lack of financial diligence by former and current Verizon execs. The union needs to crush the company this time. Not just for the union, but for the managers who cannnot strike.

As for being anti-union, I will be right there on the picket line with you. Not because I support a strike at this time, but because I know if it wasn't for the Union's (and mine, been on the line before) past sacrifices, I wouldn't have the pay and benefits I have today. The difference between you and me is that I accept responsibility for my own fate, you want to blame people for yours.

Well they removed the ability to go to pilot school on tuition assistance but last month had an opening for a pilot for the company jet on the job postings. I'm Lowell and his good buddies need a private chef as well... on the company dime of course!

Come on, go look at Verizon insider transactions. Of course it's legal, but ethical? When you appoint all your cronies and they do the same it's not a question of legality. I used TAP for cooking classes. Also took 2 buyouts from the company. Thanks. Also, every day on the job for over a decade was miserable. Feel bad for anyone who has to try and make it 20 more years there. What a crappy quality of life.

Simply put, I'm not willing to put my career on the line so that the regular Joe can drive a Ferrari for 5 minutes. If he/she want's to do that, do it on their own dime. And don't begrudge upper management either. While I almost never agree with their positions, we all live in the United States of America and were given the opportunity to succeed and purchase 3 Ferraris if that is what we want to do. If you haven't pursued that opportunity (for example, using the TAP money wisely) then you can only blame yourself.

Or the biggest scam of them all: The Driving Series. They charge $2500 a person for the student to drive sports cars around at different tracks. Oh... this is the safe driving course, next month comes the auto journalism course, and so on. What a lot of people don't understand is you spend all your TAP money for the year on these ridiculous courses and then should you leave the company within a year, you owe it all back! 8k for driving sports cars for a day, hope it was worth it!
