Does anyone know if there is another support board for people who have actually been laid off? One that hasn't been hijacked by union calls for strikes, etc. I don't have anything against Union workers, but I thought this board was for former employees and family members who have actually lost their jobs. It gets tiresome scrolling through all the stike calls etc.

Yeah. It's a shame. But with unions, it's all about them. They can't help it.
Methinks the original poster is either making much of nothing or has an agenda to squelch any talk of strikes or contract negotiations. It is quiet easy to simply skip over any union threads if they have no interest to you. Layoff threads are in a lull right now; banning union threads won't somehow lead to more discussions about layoffs.
I'll post where and when I want , that's my choice, your choice is to read it or not. The main topic is Vz and I make it a point to gather as much information as possible about a company I am employed with. Knowledge is power!!!!
I don't care if someone is Union or not. I think the point is this board is flooded with union rants, stike, no strike, get ready for a strike and on and on and on.
What does all this Union activity have to do with being laid off? Nothing.
What percentage of VZ employees are Union? 25%?
What percentage of posts on here are Union related? 95%?
What percentage of Union posts on here have anything to do with layoffs or possible layoffs? 0%...
Some of us are union and laid off should we leave please let me know?
Relax when union gets contract this will go back to a sad layoff board.

Well @1iiz, it is a "secret" group because it is by invitation only. That's is how Facebook classifies a group where someone needs to be invited to join. It is also for FORMER Verizon employees who were laid off and not CURRENT Verizon employees or non Verizon affiliated people.
I still check this board becuase I am no longer a VZ employee, but still want see if there are any additional layoffs happening. This place is my best resource for that.
There is nothing funny about it to me, I find it very sad actually how Verizon treated me and thousands of others.

Funny how a person who is on a "secret" board is still over here checking things out. but if there's another board that's great. it shouldn't be a secret, that's sad, It should be for them specifically. This board was hijacked unintentionally, things just get out of hand with Verizon. When this contract thing is over, It will go back to the unfortunate more bad news of Layoffs.
Thanks! That group sounds like more of what I'm looking for. I'll ask a few of the people who were let go with me to see if they know about it. I kept work/personal pretty separate on social media, but I have a few former VZW folks I can reach out to. Thanks again!
We actually have a secret FB group of all us laid off VZ Employees. There are a couple hundred of us on the group. It's a good group with support and recommendations to land your next job.
Unfortunately, I am not willing to give my name here and you are probably not either. If I had your name I could add you to the group though.
Layoffs happen to union and non union ---you cant stop anyone from posting---- the only way is for you to create your own board--- I'll post where and when I want.

This website is "thelayoff.com", not "theunionstrike.com". Perhaps union folks should create their own board and let this one serve the purpose in the page description.
