Thread regarding Follett layoffs

April Fools!

Happy April Fools!

Today we will tell all the rumors and hoopla going down at FMartears.

FHEG and FSS are being split and having their own HR, Finance, IT, and Marketing groups.

RE will announce retirement and a new HR head will be arriving soon. This figure head will replace some of the directors and management in both HR areas while promoting others in transferring to the other business.

TH will continue his role as CFO with putting more eyes on IT. Expect more questions by finance to IT of ROIs and projects to be put on hold or ceasing existing projects and removing products with little or no return to the company to help save money.

Speaking of IT, SS is demoted. His title will still retain CIO but he and his staff will only be within FHEG. BM will be promoted and now SS's peer. This will shake up IT into two buckets: FHEG IT and FSS IT. Good news for some as this will move individuals into new roles and add more jobs on the FSS side. Developers will be focused on their respective applications but still have no staff to assist as consultants will be very limited.

Marketing groups will be shuffled but don't expect much change. HR will be doing enough when they want to make new titles for everyone to feel special but the marketing will be for their respective business unit.

In other news, the stores will have a big impact. Staff will be reduced to a few employees giving way to students and temps. More than before. However, there will be a change of scenery for a number of regionals. Many will be let go and have more stores to cotend with.

Westchester will be losing floor 5 to another business. Amazon will be utilizing floors 4-5 in the coming year. Amazon will be working alongside FHEG to help "better our processes" who knows who this is bettering.

FSS will overtake FHEG as the 600 pound gorilla. A few family members and return hires will continue to make k-12 and libraries expand and even more internationally. This may lead to a brighter future for Follett under the FSS group.

This is it for now. Happy Fiscal Year! May the bonuses ever be in their favor, just not yours.

The 600 pound gorilla doesn't notice the Elephant in the room? Read what it is like to work for Amazon, Follett's new mentor, who seems to have been advising awhile considering how things have been going. And you thought things couldn't get worse? Just wait.
