EOY FT eliminations in retail stores

Here we go again. "Restructuring" instead of just cutting, but more FT eliminations in FHEG retail stores...

Can anyone confirm the posts made here? I can't see any store regardless of volume operating without a Store Manager.

Customers all over the country are breathing a sigh of relief. Finally, they'll get great service, great merchandise and great prices at their local Follett store. This restructuring was a long time in coming. Finally we're firing the people who don't talk to customers and we're focusing on the customer experience. except we're not. Doh!

Another great, insightful move by this merry band of bozos.

I should add; those who have their position eliminated will be offered an hourly position at the same wages. According to statements read 'thanks to Obamacare your benefits will remain the same.' Stores falling below the 500k mark in volume will operate on the basis of one ASM in an hourly role as key management and at least one part time associate in addition. The formalized structure was briefly shown however it will be released for general viewing on May 1st.

The same comments regarding providing dynamic customer service and hassle free shopping were trotted out. It was suggested analysis of position store volume wise will be reviewed every six months, but no specifics regarding whether or not stores on the boarderline could face immediate loss of full time staff if they dip below the magic number or not.

If you are concerned about whether or not your store is affected; store managers were contacted yesterday and today about affected associates (or if they themselves were affected by the reduction.) Conversations are scheduled for the end of this week for affected staff. A script has also been forwarded with the appropriate questions. Ranging from level one on up, the approved staff was clear cut with a requirement of at least 1.5 million to maintain a course materials manager in addition to a store manager.

Special circumstances have been mentioned and are being addressed on a case by case basis it would seem. Regarding Phase 2, no confirmation regarding further RIFs was provided, but it was suggested that Phase 2 is not a reduction but a reclassification of existing job titles (i.e., removal of Store Manager I, II, III in favor of more traditional retail operations.)

The blood letting has reached the field at last. My sympathies to all of you. For the survivors, you face a choice; do your job to the best of your ability and hope things turn around (or the crocodile eats you last) or start searching. For those affected, good luck.

I can confirm. As of 3/30 a job elimination conversation will be taking place for store managers. Stores are being re-tiered based on sales volume. What this means for field stores; IF YOU STORE IS 500K OR LESS IN SALES VOLUME THERE WILL NO LONGER BE AN EXEMPT POSITION. If you were a store Manager I, you will lose your full time status. This is Phase one. There is a second phase to be discussed soon.

'Follett remains strong financially and continues to expand its retail and online footprint" etc.

Affected store associates not already contacted get the news 3/31. There is a severance package involved for those affected as well. Good luck to all of you.
