I almost forgot....I also love how our brilliant executives stopped investing in extremely profitable services like h.s.i. & fios and are indebting the company by hundreds of billions of dollars with Vodafone, Terremark, hum and go90. Lowell is so smart, he's going to build his own wireless devices and drop all of those worthless Apple & Samsung products. He's my hero.

I just had a great interview with a new company yesterday and the atmosphere was much more calm there than at Verizon HQ.

The OP is just looking for a laugh, so when you see such a moronic post, don't reply. Eventually idiots like the OP simply go away.

@G71FFKI-1aus Wireless is worth working in, but I wouldn't join the sinking side

My family likes nice things, I will stay with the sinking side.

welcome to corporate, name a company that doesnt do any of this? you make your own choice, leave the company and go flourish at another. I've been laid off more than 8 times in my career and outsourced on each one. Sh*t happens, you can't rely on any politician either to help the working middle class, you can just better yourself and plan ahead for the sake of yourself and family

Verizon is working hard to try to recruit younger workers. Think twice before you even consider the place! It is one of the most toxic, cut throat, swim with the sharks organizations in the USA. The pay/benefits may be good, but the work trauma inflicted is not worth it. VZ touts big at being #1....

THEY ARE ALSO #1 FOR....

  • Having Leaders with out of control egos - they belittle you and disrespect you

  • Laying off folks every quarter because of bad business decisions

  • Promoting their friends, brown nosers and cronies - a real friends and family network

  • Not listening to employees who have valid concerns about the business and how they're treated

  • Working folks with crazy schedules and long hours

  • Ridiculous quota goals for sales employees

  • Outsourcing jobs to other countries

  • Fear-based leadership - their motto - "If you don't like it, then quit!!"

Find a better place to work - with real integrity and a real positive culture. Your life will be so much better without the experience!

Verizon might be a great place to work for those of you who still have a job, as compared to not having a job anymore. I will miss my husband's benefits, but he is kinda glad his position was eliminated in the first round rather than having to deal with the horrendous fallout from the reorg. The original poster sounds like they haven't been working for Verizon long enough to remember what it was like back when it was actually a pretty great company. They also need to learn how to work while looking over their shoulder, because my husband's experience shows that Verizon doesn't care how much you love the company or your job, how hard you work, how far you work your way up the ladder, or how stellar your reputation is within the company anymore. No matter who you are or what you do, your number will be drawn someday. Just give it time...or age...or enough salary increases. Sleep well, little drone.

they want to silence you to keep the stock price from tanking; they have to work harder to drown out all the negative they're really doing...

@GEX...You are so right, OP? Wait until you are called into the conference room (THIS YEAR !) and your boss has serious look on their face.(if you are lucky..otherwise you can be RIF'd via conference call) ..No matter what Performance rating(s) you have received in the past.

People will never be able to fully relate to something until it happens to them. The OP is a perfect example of that.

This is so funny.

I thought I was funny.

But this shit is really really funny.

Sure sure, OK, and the sun is cold. And and Alaska is the number one vacation destination worldwide.

Sure sure, someone get this guy another tequila.

I agree with great benefits, but living under the threat of quarterly RIF does not make for a great place to work.
