How does EWA pay work for salaried people? Do they get any additional money?

You can be salaried and non exempt or salaried and exempt. OT rules changed jan 3. After 51 hours in one week, double time now. Non Exempt get OT if on EWA, or if they work OT in their normal job. For those staying behind and picking up work for those on EWA, the same applies. The rules for Exempt change a bit. If on EWA, they will get paid OT. Last I heard, the Exempt not on EWA but still required to work the EWA schedule and OT, but will not be compensated for the additional time. That is not set in stone, and may change, or has, I am not sure but there was compensation last strike.

1mcu, just curious, while you were out attempting to do our job, who was doing your job?

Last time around we got O/T for time beyond 40 hours, and it was 12 hour days, no days off start to finish (would have been 6 on, 1 off if it had gone on any longer). So 40 straight time, 44 O/T (1.5x pay) each week for those two weeks + two days.

Uncle Sam took his bite but it was still a boatload of money for running wires around a frame and going out to lunch every day on the company dime.

Don't worry it will be a small glimpse into my unskilled, stupid, low level, union existence. I'm told a monkey can do this job just remember we are overpaid, undereducated, blue collar, replaceable workers. Lowell sees no value in us maybe you can satisfy him we tried.

Same pay no matter what band you are in! No extra compensation or days off.

6 days on- 1 day off - 12 Hour shifts is what we were told. For the first two weeks of the strike, no days off - that's right 14 days straight.

Although you will get an open ended vacation from your family, friends, home, pets, and way of life!!! Hopefully you do not have to report out of state and or in a known drug, murder and gang infested area like my department.

Enjoy!

I would recommend starting a new trend for non union employees like yourself who are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Start a petition against Verizon and have it signed by the 10's of thousands that want nothing to do with strike duty because it's not part of their job description, it's unsafe and it's bad for the customer. I just can't see Verizon firing a 100,000 employees or so for standing up for themselves. Give it a shot, you just might be shocked on how good it feels to stand up for yourself and empower others to do the same.

I don't know if you union guys know that strike duty has been dumped on employees way down the food chain not even close to management. I know I'm look for another job, but haven't been able to get one yet. What choice do I have?
