Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I would agree..anyone still around since the 90's like myself has a target on them. Making too much money and too old.. However I protect myself with my customers and sales volume. If they get rid of me I take my customer base, contacts, and their money right to the competition. This strategy has kept me employed longer than the OP. She will be gone unless she is a customer facing employee guaranteed. Easily replaced for a third of the salary by my daughter graduating from college this semester. The OP will not find another job no matter how good her resume or education that pays what she is making now.

My daughter is in school for civil engineering! I know it is completely different but I am so happy when I meet more female engineers! My sister in law is a civil engineer and my daughter wants to be just like her! You may not even know it but your a great role model!!

Thanks! It was worth it. I went for electrical engineering so I could go anywhere. VZW payed for the majority of my degree. I haven't had any really issues with the company until the restructure. I am keeping my resume up to date and pushing it around just in case. I agree with what you said if people are that unhappy they should update the resume and move on. Why would you want to be somewhere you arn't happy?

Actually my fellow "lesbian" my background is in business management and criminal Justice. Verizon W gave me my masters! When my time is up here I was offered a job as a professor making a decent salary. I'm okay with that! I wish I had an engineering degree! Go you!!!

Well said by1. The OP said she has been with Verizon since the 90's, so clearly she is very comfortable and knows nothing of anything other than working at Verizon.

OP when was the last time you looked for a job? If you're someone that has spent a significant amount of time here and experience is limited to work done here, it can be extremely difficult if not impossible to find something somewhere else without taking a significant pay cut. And i don't know about anyone else but in my paycheck to paycheck world, that is NOT an option. So here's an alternate plan for you OP -if you don't like what you read here, hows about you just get the f--- out.

Why, I have been in Network for a few years and this is a male dominated job. I love my job... does that make me a lesbian too? I have never had a problem with one man at our company. No man has ever made me feel out of place or inept. You must not really work for our company. You seem to be a troll.
