Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Thank you for having your members backs...

Special thanks to our union officials, for once again missing the most opportune time to strike. Management will take special pride in sending our members out over the next week or so, to work in unsafe conditions. Who knows, maybe we'll even get lucky and a "service emergency" will be declared. That way, we can be forced to work 70 or 80 hour weeks again, just as we were for the past 6 or so months through the "service difficulty" that you did absolutely nothing about. I know, I know, "they can't make you work unsafe, file a grievance." That worked out just great for all our members who were suspended without pay for "compelling personal reasons." I guess collecting all those union dues takes priority over actually doing what is best for and listening to your members.

So who is going to dig their way out to get to work on Monday, union or scabs? My money is on union.

Problem is they have started up a campaign of harassment against their workers. A lot of them are working 12 hour days, 6 days a week with the company micro-managing every detail. They are suspending people for 6 weeks over trivial stuff, trying to create a climate of fear. They are constantly interrupting, and hassling people with calls and texts while they are trying to get a job done for a customer. Making you feel like a criminal if you have to make a stop to use a bathroom. Gets to you after a while. Honestly I don't see how it can go on indefinitely without some sort of bad incident. People are only human, there is only so much pressure you should put on them, without giving them some downtime. In an emergency is one thing, but there is no emergency going on for the last 6 months. The company claims in their emails to care about their employees health.

People say Verizon have consulted with high end anti-union law firms. Makes you wonder if this is the strategy that has been advised.

Don't the union workers get their pay and benefits under the old contract until there's a new one? Seems to me if that's the case, why press the issue?

""For the year ahead, the company affirmed its guidance that calls for 2016 earnings that are on par with last year's result. There are a lot of moving pieces within that expected flat result, though, including the *sale of its wireline operations***and the gain of new revenue from the acquired AOL and Millennial Media businesses. "Verizon embraced transformational change in 2015, and in 2016, the company has a huge opportunity to drive a new era of growth in our industry," McAdam said. ""

Funny, bargaining update says for us to tell management that we're "willing to strike in order to get a fair contract." Exactly when do the union officials plan on acting tough rather than just talking tough?

2 feet of snow on the ground, seems like a good time to me.

The company has jerked the union around again. The company promised serious negotiations and a a possible end to this on 1-15-2016. Then on tuesday the company did an about face and said ha ha no we decided we don't want to do what we talked about on 1-15. Its how vz treats everyone, WITH NO ETHICS. THEY WANT YOU OUT. You are going to quit or work like a slave. Put your hand up if you subscribe to anything verizon sells, if you do the. You Are, in fact, part if the problem here. Thats what the execs laugh at. The union is out of options because the company has no serious intentions of maintaining the wireline anything. You walk, you wont be back. Thats ok with me actualy. I , like most, will spend every second of every day doing nothing to help this company.

My floating shit log in the commode has more ethics than verizon c class and most management here. Lets start f---ing with their cash flow. STOP SUBSCRIBING TO VERIZON. GONE

ELSEWHERE AND GET YOUR FROENDS AND FAMILY TO DO THE SAME. F@UCK lowell AND HIS GOONS.

At some point members will need to understand that the union is only concerned with collecting dues and not helping the workers. What a joke! 6 months without a contact while watching members get picked off one by one. Appears union officials have no end game and are now nothing more than puppets for vz worried about collecting their money and not the members.
