I'm confused - If the company is doing well then why the need to lay off 8000 non union people, and to demand pension & 401k concessions from the union workforce? On the other hand, if the company Is NOT doing well then how do the top five or six executives justify sucking 50 million dollars a year in compensation out of it? Seriously, do these insulated schmucks understand there needs to be a middle class, with disposable income, in order for people to be able to buy their products and services? They really need to come out and mingle with the masses a little bit instead of letting Wall St. lead them around by the nose.

Agree, koolaid drinkers to a spectacular degree.
A One line response to my semi-precise analysis of this company. So typical of the senior management here as they "talk down" to us middle guys.
Give it up already man, just because you keep repeating the propoganda doesn't make it the truth.
In addition, most of the "better guys" were incorrectly called "dinosaurs" or " sacred cows" and were pushed out. They knew the truth.
Somebodys still drinking the Koolaid
How many examples must be given for this company to change course. The better employees are treated the better the corporation does, read a friggin book.
@1ovx, excellent comment. This Board of Directors had better wake up and realize it's not a good business model to have your whole workforce, whether union or management, pissed at you. If they don't understand this then maybe the house cleaning should include the whole lot of them!
Seidenberg also had plans to merge LTE and FTTP.
The new guy put and end to it with no plan yet conceived to generate revenue.
Well, if you count selling CLAs and cases a plan then it was a failed plan.
He got away with it by promising that if he was allowed to chop the wireline side, break the unions and then polish his wireless egg, he would create a company with huge margins and a huge ROIs.
That never happened.
It was an empty promise, there is no plan.
He then went on a rampage, sparring with the other wireless CEOs, sparring heavily with the FCC.
This has led to the price wars you see today.
At last check the unionized side has turned into a bitter battle because senior management has forced middle management to sparr with, and demoralize the workforce here. imo its spreading like a cancer.
lowell has said in public that "the tail doesn't wag the dog" in reference to his war on his unions.
However, a dog needs it's tail and lowell isnt going to be able to cut it off as he is learning.
As a business man myself, it's clear that senior management here is all pencil and paper in a company that has a chunk of brick &mortar and boots-on-the-ground presence.
Their judgment has become clouded.
Their motives are highly questionable.
And despite all the business talent they claim to have, it doesn't appear to be what vz needs currently.
2016 may well be the year of change here .....with senior management.
Good luck to all.
It was ivan's contracts 4 and sometimes 5 years with increases in 401k and pension and wages that you actually looked forward too never strikes and sometimes contract extensions dont forget that pal. I dread every 3 years what lowell is gonna give us. Or should i say take away from us
Don't pretend any of this is new. It was Seidenberg that froze the pensions. It was under Seidenberg that thousands were RIFd. It was Seidenberg that took the overfunded GTE pension fund, buried it in the ground, and called it FiOS.
Verizon was a huge employer in the usa.
Verizon had one of the largest unionized workforces innthe usa.
The powers to be here wanted to get rid of people and openly said that they were here to "bust the union."
There are powers in this country that are appauding this effort.
lowel the little koch sucker needs to go. This is his wet dream, empowered to cut the vz workforce apart, both sides, and bust the unions.
As you are seeing, no cost is too great to accomplish this.
Also, as Mark Twain said, It's easier to fool the workforce, than it is to convince them they are being fooled.
There are/were so many loyal employees here and that made it easier for lowbag mcasshat.
