Awfully Quite... If the Union thinks we are going to ratify a BS contract with them telling us this is the best we can do, Take it or leave it. They better just leave it at the table. We're dealing with a company that makes Billions not Millions a Month, and a leadership that write's off all it's wireless debts to Our side of the house. Stand alone we're profitable. Don't they realize there dealing with a serious miscalculating CEO. Every, and I mean every big deal he has done, has been a serious mistake. He alone has cost this company Billions in miscalculations. And all of a sudden he's a genius in labor issues??? Wake up Union leadership! and don't forget what made Unions what they are. Fighters... Unions Fight greedy CEO's. That's what Unions do. Negotiations are over put up your duke's Lowell, and we're going to show you another one of your miscalculations.
3vpd.....Don't have a clue? 87% voted to strike. My guess is you probably didn't bother to vote at all. You probably did however, vote to keep all of the current executives on the board. Last time I checked, when a union no longer listens to its members, it's no longer a union. Sort of like when the government no longer works for the greater good of the people, it's no longer a democracy. Sounds to me like, if you were one of us "lucky" technicians, you didn't save any of that extra money you made while being forced to work 80 hours a week for about the past 6 months. Sorry, but I did and all of that forced o.t. took a toll on my body and my family life. I don't ever want to be put in that situation again and today's work conditions are deplorable. We need a new and better contract. Unfortunately, the only way that's going to happen, is to strike at the right time.

3izc......I agree completely. Just can't understand how 87% vote to strike but the union seems to have no interest in calling Lowell's bluff. I hope the union has a meteorologist on staff.
One weekend will not bring them to there knees that's for sure, but keep running it into February, and we'll start to see cracking that's for sure. The managers they have now, never held a tool let alone know how to use one. Combine that with freezing cold temps and angry customers. Lowell will have once again miscalculated, like he's done in every major decision so far.
Big winter storms hitting the Northeast this weekend. MIght be the ideal time to strike. Let's see how much work the scabs can get done in the freezing cold and snow.
Still Profitable and killing the competition in it's field. Fiber to the prem is unbeatable, it's crushing the cable companies and Verizon has the chance to control the Northeast corridor Washington, Philly, New York, Boston and all in between. You know the Prime time market of the country. Wireless is in a dog fight with price wars, and everyone and there mother getting in on it. Wireless companies are popping up like weeds in the springtime, offering the same Sh#t, lets face it there soon will be no difference in wireless service but a HUGE difference in the price if you have Verizon. FIOS is unmatched and can control everyone's home internet and entertainment service. PROFITABLE with no competition.

The numbers look better when examining individual divisions. Wireline operating income margin was 4.4 percent in Q4 2014, up from 1.2 percent the previous fourth quarter, Verizon's earnings announcement said. FiOS revenue grew 11.6 percent year-over-year to $3.3 billion in Q4 2014, and FIOS brought in 77 percent of consumer wireline revenue.
STILL PROFITABLE...
Just a guess, but I'll bet that 1PUX is a fairly new wireless millennial, who is working long hours for a low wage, still living at home in mom and dads basement and is "energized by change." The kool aid still tastes good, give it a couple months, unless he or she has already been replaced by "Bob" in the meantime.

Well most of the Old wireline people WILL retire from there Old job, and that Old Union with their Old 401K AND Old pension. They'll enjoy long Old days of Old sunsets and Old fishing. People talk a lot, and of course wireless has many uses and is here to stay, and will grow, but everyone I know has a WIRE going to their house that provides them with high speed internet. I guess Verizon's plan is for that WIRE to be provided by Cablevision.
I haven't seen any big business that runs on wireless. They all have wireline... go into their server rooms and see for yourself.
PUX... you surf the web on your wireless data plan? Go outside your home or apartment or check the basement, is there a wire there? You want a data cap on your home use of the internet? No thanks, I will stick with wireline for my home wifi network and no data caps.
You talk about wireless speeds What is the top wireless speed vs the top wireline (FIOS Quantum) speed? Which is faster do you know? Is it even close? They are slowing down the whole national infrastructure, wasting all investment in wireless when FIOS is way ahead!
What about the FREE WIFI coming to NYC?

Theres always some un or under educated person telling us that wireline is dead its all wireless. Inform yourself before commenting THERE IS NO WIRELESS WITHOUT WIRELINE yes it is very profitable, the company loads all debt onto wireline to make it look unprofitable, don't believe stories your told by the company propagandists' and the uneducated.
Wire line Important?? What are you smoking? Wake up and look around. It looses money, leadership hates the union, and technology as already been demonstrated to the board of directors on how wireless speeds and thru put can replace it. It will not be part of the Verizon portfolio this time next year..
The quandary for Verizon is how to give a security contract to the side of the business that they been telling the Wireless side is dead, and not to Unionize. Fact is the Wireline side is very much not dead, and becoming very important to Verizon. The wireless people were told untruths and kept in the dark about the wireline side. Now that the wireless peoples jobs have been sent away for cheaper options without any resistance, fair play they had none. Sheep to slaughter. The Union is still very much strong, still working, and a thorn in the side of Verizon. Fair play, it's the company they built.
@ gtk Verizon will never do chapter 13 or 11 , fios and wireline and the backbone to wirleess is worth more to them. You must have been sold a bag of goods about you losing your job due to the union.
@ blo your post makes no sense, Google is a premier company , Verizon is not. Google has faster fiber internet than Verizon. Why would google pay for something that they do much better? ( internets speed) Why would Google want wireline? Verizon sold states that were union wireline to frontier ( They want the north east region), the union received respectable contracts from frontier.
I have my fingers crossed you are right. So much do the Union and vz deserve each other. A fight to death, with their hands gripped around each other's throats, would be wonderful. VZ entering first chapter 13, then chapter 11, full bankruptcy. YES YES YES SO SO richly deserved. And the CWA/IBEW depleted of tens of thousands of, now, unemployed ex members.
And I love the bit about Google, but I hope they swoop in and pick up the whole $hit hole mess for 10 cents on the $$$.
VZ has no interest in the wireline part of the company, unless it relates to wireless. VZ sees wireline as a boat anchor to its dreams of becoming another Google. I think most of us would agree there's a lot of truth in that. The Union, and by default the members, are part and parcel of wireline. So for vz the issue is simple, either they need: no more Union period or a compliant Union with contract in place. This will then make selling wireline as attractive as possible. The holy grail of vz dreams would be to actually sell wireline to Google. I really think Google would be VERY interested, but it would be mandatory that the sale came minus any Union. This, in my opinion, is why the CWA/IBEW has not called for much more affirmative action, it knows vz wants a fight, a fight to the death. That death most assuredly being that of the Union and its, by then, defunct members.

So It's not surprising that leaders don't want you to have any, as in, as little as possible of their Greed. Greed means you get none, they get all. This is a very Greedy leadership. Very Greedy. To succeed in Greed you have to be an exceptional Liar, It is a must have requirement. it is in the definition of Greed. At Verizon we have World Champion Liar running this company. Nobody is better at Greed than Lowell McAdam. This man will steal the eyes out of your head, and then tell you you look better without them. Hats off to the Greedy Lying Champion Mr. Lowell McAdam.

@ psi are you a top executive ? do you know for a fact nothing is on the table? source your information , its easy to do. Verizon has posted nothing , Union sites are indicating talks are taking place.

Nothing left on the table to bargain with - CWA will need to accept the same terms like the rest of the working class or the doors will close on the last remaining region. It's not the core business anymore, just another LEC and least cost wins.
