Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

No such thing as a permanent Job ...ANYMORE

Half of employees view their job as a “temporary growth opportunity”

More of my co workers at ATO, had or are in the process of leaving the company they used to love, quitting their jobs, more than ever, in the past year after surplus notices started to pick up, the highest percent rank compensation as “the biggest impact on decision to take a new job.” Not been valued, and salary considerations.

The moral of the story? Now more than ever, employers can’t afford to believe workers don’t care about money and won’t quit in pursuit of it. What’s more, whether compensation is a primary driver of voluntary turnover, a related factor, or a crucial concern is of less importance than the fact that it’s an inherent part of the mix.

The Opportunity to have a meaningful careers with a company at value employees, and good compensation packages, comes once in a life time,

It costs $15,000 to $20,000 in indirect expenses alone just to lay off one employee making $98,0000 annually according to the Center For Economic Policy Research. Then add in the direct expense to AT&The for the Severance package and the 60 day notice you are given. AT&T is giving away free money. Who would possibly want to stay with a company like AT&T where backstabbing is the norm?

ATO is a horrible, horrible place. It's very common to be yelled and screamed at with insults on conference calls and for management to not back you up. It's non-stop misogyny, racism, and homophobia. Supervisors for engineers have GEDs. No one knows how to do anything. It's just a mess. The environment is horrible and they're driving smart, talented people away.

Company culture... hands down is the worst. The managers would rather use scare tactics like threaten your job for you to be a top producer than train you the correct way. Many employees and staff are pressured to manipulate words to get customers to purchase equipment and services they don't want or need which leads to a never-ending cycle of customer escalations. (Research recent investigations for AT&T).. Also, this isn't the most family friendly place, the hours are extremely long and AT&T does NOT offer sick days. So for goodness sake, don't get sick else you will be forced to use your vacation days and when those run out your job will be threatened. Many of my coworkers came to work very sick just to keep their jobs. Also, there is a disconnect between different departments of AT&T making job promotions EXTREMELY difficult. Also, managers hiring their friends rather than qualified applicants also makes job promotion difficult. I had to make a choice between my happiness and going to work everyday stressed out so I left. Honestly, quite a few of the workers engage in heavy drinking and other "activities" just to deal with the stress. And my absolute favorite thing, these folks just don't believe in being truthful with each other or customers. I've never worked in an environment where lies are accepted as truth. Many of the managers would rather plot, scheme and manipulate their way to the top rather than doing business the correct way. I've seen this place suck even the most positive people into the abyss. If you can avoid this mess,

Geat post, ATT workers' willingness and ability to leave their jobs and find better employment elsewhere,

As Hiring continues to pick up, may be ATT should consider their practices, before all the bright and talented workforce of the future, is working somewhere else!!, Wouldn't you love a 'Big jump' in salary: for a job that insiped you? with a substantial increase in salary and a company who really thinks you are talented
