Both AT&T and Verizon's debt has risen significantly over the past three years.

Great post, the last comment.... is right on target, I guess ..some of the people contributing to this site, do not watch the news, that would explain why the would not know about this BAD deals. Leadership and accountability starts at the top, unfortunately AT&T is one of many exceptions

The huge salaries and bonuses that the exces receive is approved by the board of directors. So, for changes to take place the board will need to vote on it. The best way for the board to take action if they see AT&T going down the drain, shareholders are dumping AT&T stock and customers not purchasing AT&T services. If informatuon gets out more into the press on how pootly AR&T treats their employees, how poorly the company is being run, then maybe things will start changing. It's all about money. The ones on the top want to make a lot more and to keep what they already want. Hit their wallet for real change to take place. Class action law suits, this blog posts, etc will help hurt the value of the company and board of directors will take action in order to save their necks. A great way for AT&T to save a lot of money is to get rid off all these useless layers of management from Senior Trchnical Director and up. Companies like zappos did that and are thriving. AT&T could try that and reap the rewards as well.

If performance is the basis for bonuses, then ATT ceo gets NOTHING. He dumped 4Billion $ on failed Tmobile deal. Every one knows that such a deal would not be allowed. But the CEO did not. Or he thought he was too powerful a guy.

Direct TV is a melting icecube.

Mexical telecom has a lot of fraudulent accounts and ATT incurred losses while normalizing the accounts in Millions or Billions not sure.

Venezuela currency crashed, So a Billion dollars down the drain.

Well all the CEO/CFO needs to do is to tell ATT to cut lower salary employees like admins, mail men security guards, call center workers, offshore jobs and lay off OLDER employees.

Great leadership really needs to be rewarded with more bonuses. Let's all vote to give more bonuses to the CEO/CFO and the executive staff.

I don't understand how the first comment is socialist? AT&T pays huge salaries and bonuses to their executives...some of the largest executive payments in the world. The stock has no growth and the execs keep buying companies and incurring debt as a way of masking the losses T has. The problem is the board has all the Class A stock and they keep voting huge payments for themselves. I'm not saying the execs shouldn't be paid on par with other large public companies, but they're not - the T execs are paid far more than comparable public companies. It's bad for the stock and it's really tough for employees to swallow when they're being laid off.

spoken like a true socialist. realise that ATT is a publicly traded company owned by thousands of people, not just execs. It is the share holders that drive and demand money. blame the people not the corporation. the people have the power to stop this behaviour by either not buying ATT products or looking elsewhere for services. wake up.

Maybe the CEOS and executives of the company can do with far less bonus and salaries.

No one, I mean no one person on this earth needs more than 150K to have a rich lifestyle

Millions and milions in bonuses, salaries and pensions that they pay themselves which chopping middleclass heads is just not ethical. These are just GREEDY people who don't care about the company, their employees and their country.

Sometime Karma is going to catch up on all these people and I would hate to be in their shoes

at that time.
