Why doesn't Verizon offer a Voluntary Layoff Program to the Workforce to reduce Labor Costs. versus the Current Involuntary Layoff Program?

There is such a program in Wireline, bargained for by CWA and IBEW associates. Currently in Potomac it is $2200 for each year of service, plus $10k-$50k cash bonus, plus other sweeteners and incentives.

EISP, or "enhanced income security program."

managers are always asked for volunteers first, problem is that there are usually more required than volunteers willing and the cuts are in silos, not across an organization based on who wants to leave and what the overall performance ranking is.

This thread is ripe with BS. If you can't contribute facts then keep your mouth shut. Poster below me nailed it - severance pkg dated 12/7/15.

can anyone confirm if the severance has actually changed for 2016. I just pulled up a doc dated 12/07/2015 and it shows 2 weeks for every year, which is what was offered to those RIF'd in November.

@dqd You hit the nail on the head..the completely changed (low) severance package for 1Q 2016 will entice people to leave ..before it gets worse

Had anyone seen the new severance pkg? I have it but don't have the old one to compare.

They would prefer that any potential volunteer would quit vs taking a layoff. That way the don't have to pay any severance. So instead they are going to reduce the severance so people that just can't stand it anymore have no reason to stay.

It is better to fire people, dumb managers who won't or can't acknowledge the underlying problem, most without practical and technical business knowledge will continue to run their businesses on the brink of failure. Lucky ones will muddle through, while the less fortunate find themselves spending more hours in nonproductive meetings with union representatives,.

In our unit we had. More managers than workers, always busy, never available, at the end, we the workers... lost our jobs, don't you love Verizon? All the managers located jobs with the intervention of HR, and the ruse continues...

Nobody tells limp dick what to do.

Limp dick takes it a step further and pays a law firm to predict your behavior and outcomes.

It's a science.

Limp dick doesn't know how to relate to most humans on this planet.

So this is what a limp dick does instead.
