Does anyone really have an idea when next layoff will happen? I had heard end of January, then someone said February and now I just read March. I know nothing is for sure but does anyone have an idea of when the next round of wireless is and who will it be? Sales?

I have been with the company for six years now and I was shocked when I heard about the layoffs. I was not totally surprised though considering the state of the industry and with so many thousands in senior or leadership positions that were not bringing in revenue. I just figured that the company was profitable to continue with business as usual. I was even applying for corporate jobs but now I'm glad I didn't get one. It is a tough company to work for but the benefits are great. However, working in retail is very difficult and it has aged me faster than if I had worked elsewhere. Verizon paid for my schooling, I hope they keep that benefit for current employees but that may disappear as well with all of the cuts. If they do close retail stores would it be smaller ones with less traffic? And would they take the performers from those stores and put them in the busy stores? I can see myself being replaced by a younger, more energetic sales star and out of a job, The customers really like me but I doubt if that is enough anymore.
@FnyedsL-iki. You are very kind and thoughtful so thank you for sharing. As for the first person, you really did not have to be a smartass. Anyway, I had heard MAMs and ADs were getting laid off (too many ADs and Managers and I hope I do get laid off as I am a MAM). This has been a very toxic company whereby leadership does destroy people's life with no regard for these individuals/human beings. I cannot believe such inconsiderate individuals and bullies exist and they all work at Verizon Wireless. I know my region has been hiring nothing but bullies and they just ram people down/push them out. I am sorry I have taken many years of my life to realize this but better late than never!!!!!

The only way to maintain VZ stock price is to maintain dividend. VZ stock trades like a bond.
Profits are currently negated by billions of debt this poorly run corporations has.
Why can't the dividends come from the income of our product line, as opposed to what you're proposing kba? I understand we make a tidy profit.
As Lowell made clear there will be no growth in 16 and 17. Any devidend quarter after quarter should come from spending cuts. So expect deep cuts folks.
Hard to say for sure. Unfortunately the leaders go through great lengths to keep it secret. The big layoffs that happened November 5th, I was hearing rumors on here a month before it happened. Although none of the rumors were a 100% right, they did give some specifics that were true like 6000 to 8000 cuts which was true and a massive re organization which was true. None of the rumors were right with specifically who would be cut and how the former areas / regions would be laid out.
That being said, I have only heard the retail store closure rumor from people at HQ because it directly impacts me as I support retail and I have asked my contacts about it. I have heard 20% closure across all markets from more than one source. I also heard they will be closures and not direct to indirect conversions. I have not heard anything about B2B, but I have not asked about that channel either. This is supposed to happen in Q1 as this company operates quarter by quarter.
Also, the November 5th layoffs where thousands of hard working people lost their careers before Christmas (sorry I am still upset about it), was planned by an outside consulting firm hired by the executive team. The consulting firm reviewed positions across VZW and made recommendations to Lowell and team. When a consulting firm is used, it minimizes rumors because an outside company is planning the cuts so fewer VZW employees know about it.
So the moral of my story here is to always be ready to be cut. Make sure your resume is good and linkedIn too.
Verizon does not value its employees as individuals, employees are truly numbers as shown by Verizon's willingness to hire a consulting firm to lay waste to thousands. It is nothing personal just business as they say. So you need to give no more than your job description to this mega corporation and nothing more. Because they will not hesitate, not for a moment to get rid of you when the numbers tell them to.

Perhaps it's April? Or, possibly, May? June sounds right. But then there's always July? Could be August, but wouldn't September make more sense? However, October offers a clarity not available earlier. On the other hand, historically November has been the month. Unless they hold off until December, as it's year end and off the books by 2017?
