Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Retired

I retired as an Executive Director on 03/29/13. I couldn't wait to go after almost 40 years. I have seen the company go down hill so far so fast. Basically, if something was 65% correct it was close enough, Customer Service ? Forget about it. Just make your numbers (cheat if you have to, nobody really looked at how you derived them as long as the PowerPoint looked pretty), say everything is great and getting better, play the game by AT&T's unwritten "rules" and you can go far in this company. Of course, I don't know how you can look yourself in the mirror in the morning, but hey, just follow what Dallas wants this week and keep being positive, polite & professional and you will go far.

Much happier now in my own private business where I am actually adding value and where I don't have to listen to the corporate BS anymore. To those who are left, please accept my sincerest best wishes an my hope that things will work out for you. Prepare your exit strategy like I did and you will be fine, there absolutely is life after AT&T

It is Reality for the poor souls that work for this corporation, and I am not referring to senior management, which are a HUGE part of the problem.

There is life after ATT . having beat you by 10 years I can honestly say the folks who remain will be in for a big ride. the plans to drop people will continue until the leadership realizes the competition in the cell business will not make them big money they think it will. If you read the posts here you will see the frustration in some and the denial in some. As one post stated, until it hits home most think it will be the other guy.

The people at Verizon are experiencing the same only they are further in the downsizing of regular employees. I have a friend who was asked to move from Florida because of the sale to Frontier to New Hampshire. He did and 7 months later was laid off. Sad but same game just a different name.
