I am in the northeast region. TPE WaBa to Boston gets whacked again later this year. Ericsson, Black & Veatch, Nokia Al-Lu, and their sub contractors are responsible for more and more work....So much so it is interesting that hundreds of RF, data fill, design, performance, and 911 techs and engineers remain on staff. Not for long....

With all the one's I have talked to I estimate around 400 this round. And they want them GONE. no finding other jobs. Saska's org was not touched this time around. They cleaned house last year. I wish they would just come out with the numbers ,instead of percentages of shit. hard to do the math cause the numbers move.

I said my former colleague is "devestated." She's a very kind woman and she took the news very hard. She's regrouped and is sending resumes out now. She'll be fine. It's not a bad thing she has empathy and compassion enough to be hurt when she hears 22% of people in her organization will be out of a job.

@anon re: "devastated" no one used that word in this thread. But so what? This has been going on for a few years. And the numbers are getting higher. Mo's direct reports ARE affected. And at least 5 are on the chopping block. And as quarters go on, the numbers will get higher. Mars or Planet earth..it doesn't matter, the nuances and the changes there in will be shocking if you have a pulse. The thing is ..is to not STAY shocked. It is time and has been time for while now to put together a solid plan. The rules are changing and as time goes on things will get more interesting and shocking.

As for the one that said "they are absolutely devastated", what planet do you come from? ATT has prepared you to lose your job for a while now, .....it should not come to a shock at all!!! To anybody

I heard no cuts to Saska's team right now. Katibeh's team is 22% for 1st & 2nd lines in impacted teams.

It's a big mistake to share your knowledge with co-workers. Collaboration means the knowledge you have becomes less valuable... once other folks know what you know, you are disposable. My advice, solve problems, but not the process or steps you used to solve... give them the answer, but not the methodology. Keep your knowledge and keep your value... Don't be foolish to assume otherwise.

its exhausting. I think its a first of many. Alot of people are stunned right now. Haven't gotten a work email since the conference call. This seriously affects morale. And its a first of many. We haven't seen anything yet. Just the fact of looking over your shoulder every quarter for the next big (rolling) wave is numbing at this point. If its not your group this month/qtr, its another group with whom you work closely. My advice is to NOT panic. Get those certs, start going for dates (on the job market) and look for alternative/multiple streams of income online with ecommerce, etc. The days of depending on ONE job is over. And in a way it can end up being empowering, because you then become the master of your own fate - or at least begin to be.

Wow. That's a HUGE reduction! I'm hearing from former colleagues of mine right now and they are absolutely devastated by the news. Very, very sad.
