Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

NJ Unemployment Compensation: has any one been declined because of the severance pay? If not, how soon till benefits are received? Thanks.

Same here. I received 2 different check like envelops from the state. If I am reading it right is the 1/20 date the dated which we actually receive a direct deposit, or the date to file a claim? It seemed a little confusing to me. Worse case, I'll just get in there and just keep clicking the claim box.

I filed this week and already got notice that I could start my benefit on 1/20. Yes, you have to disclose the severance, but it didn't disqualify.

Severance has nothing to do with unemployment. You are absolutely enrolled to collect. I was laid off last year, got nice package and collected NJUI! You are eligible the day after your last day on payroll. .12/31 for most. Don't wait.
