Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

WBG is like New Coke

WBG..who came up with this group? What a compete joke, feel like I am going back in time to the 70's. Since when do we sell mobility solutions yet demand that our people report to an office???? Had a "boss" say that she would find out if we were there and had spies to tell her if we weren't putting in a 9-5 day? Its a sales group...we are out selling. what??????? No wonder VZW is crumbling, seriously antiquated ideas and draconian leaders? What the heck is happening? What a joke...plus I am over 50...dont need a 30yr old babysitting me, I am an adult and act like one. Lets not forget what happened to Blackberry folks....

cfb - there is no doubt that 'there will be more' layoffs. No question. When you are chasing, rather than leading the market and price, you have only one direction to travel, and that is down. This is a sad story about the lack of investment in core competencies to chase dreams with other people's money.

Just a friendly tip folks. For those of you that still remain, have a backup plan in place. You could be next.. just sayin...

The company has become truly a politically correct joke of a series of Dilbert comic stips.

If you treat your people right they will take care of the customer, it really is that simple

This is true-oam I was a champion supporter of my company, and proud to work for it. It's almost hard to even type those words now. Bottom line is they do not care about the customer period.

I was one who was impacted, and it is definitely a life lesson I am learning how quickly a large company can deteriorate. I used to be a VZ promoter to all my friends and family and now I am telling them all to switch to another carrier. Sad, but grateful for the pay and experience I received while VZ was still a good place to work.

This company has NO Integrity whatsoever. And they have a bad habit of holding on to your severance and vacation pay far too long after your seperation date.

WBG? Makes no sense, adding layers upon layers and now I have accounts all over the US, support people in other states and a boss half way across the country. Ummm ok? Talk about de-personalzing service.

Whats happening now is that so called leaders can't even trust each other. It will all come to an end eventually, looks like the party is over folks.

Micro managing people into oblivion is the VZW way. I once had a manager tell me she didn't like the color blue font I was using to reply to emails with. When in fact it was the default reply outlook blue. She was the worst manager I've ever had, but I've only been in the work force for 40 years.

Leadership comes from a place of distrust instead of a place of trust.

New and fresh leaders are most definitely needed especially in the sales organizations mainly AD's and Directors from B2B. Extremely selfish non motivational bone headed leaders. They do not know the true meaning of a loyal employee. If you are not willing to stab others in the back for them, you are worth nothing to them. Extremely happy that I was rif'd back in March. looks like things haven't changed much since I left good old VZW. They keep pushing the hard working employees out and reward the selfish back stabbing fools. I really do not miss it all. terrible culture, toxic culture. Keep pushing employees around, keep bullying employees and see how the tables will turn as employees are pushed towards the union. keep laying people off and see how eventually the union will prevail. I really do not miss ZVW.

Funny that VZW is allowing Customer Service Agents to work from home, they are called home based agents.Yet sales folks ( AEs, AD's and Support ) are not allowed to work from home and are treated like children and threaten by Leadership. I can tell you that the office space for Sales is horrible, it is an open work space that is not condusive to conference and or sales calls. Talk about non-productive time. Hey VZW if you want me driving all around and wasting time rushing back and forth to the office no problem my day will go by fast!

Verizon steals from their own customers, how do you think they are going to treat their own employees? In the executive perch there is no honor among thieves. They treat you as a thief, because they think like thieves.

This has been the case for years. It works one of two ways. If everyone is in the office, they will not hit their sales goals. You can't reprimand when they have two legs and an arm tied. If everyone is out of the office and sales goals are not met, well... You are not around for long.

Your post made me laugh because it is so true. Verizon is a Communications company but never could share important information from HQ that was necessary to do the job. Verizon is a Technology company but frowns on it's employees working from home even though there is a desk shortage in the work office building. There are no Visionary leaders left in this company and that will eventually lead to its' demise.
