Is the leadership this ill informed, inept, or is this a strategy to destroy the company? I'm asking this in all sincerity I'm truly puzzled. I'm laidoff but they truly need my talents, racking my brain trying to make sense of this.

There are very few good business leaders left today. What passes today is embarrassing.
You are missing the point. They do not wish to be a phone company anymore. They see faries and unicorns and dancing dividends coming from selling regressive product ideas like Go90, New Coke and Ho Hum to a low-cost, no loyalty millennial market, which boasts no jobs, no ownership and big student loan debt. It is like investing in the prepaid market all over again.
It is good to be gone. Other companies will soon take the title of Telecom Titan, while VZ will follow Kodak, Xerox, polaroid and all those who forgot, and failed to reinvest in what brought them to the party.
Caring is not going to change the fact that Verizon has become a horrible company that does not care about its employees. The best course of action is to take your talents, and most importantly your business elsewhere.
Agreed ouk. Watching everyone play Pie in the Face Game after Christmas made me think of VZW layoffs. I'm not sure who got the pie in the face the people shown the door or the few older ones left behind to pick up the work and play the next round.
I care too !!!
Who cares??? @Fg8hKU7-men I care. I give my life and career to a company, i'd like to leave with a little dignity. Not shoved out the door with my hat in my hand by a CEO who's compensation rose by 36 percent making him the highest paid CEO in the telecommunication industry, while his stock is floundering, and he is making one bad decision after the next. Kicked to the curb like trash by a CEO and the top few executives who have made over $350 million in the last five years. It seems there are few people that want all the money, when thousands of us have families to support Everyone can see how much this company wants to take from us, and even though they’re making more money than they can count, and shoving it into their pockets, hand over fist, they want to give us LESS. And now throw us out the door after years of service building this company. Then, to add insult to injury and just pure absolute greed, hire others into the same position that they fired me at for much less money. To answer your question... YES I care, and so does MY family
Who cares. If you have talent that is in need, go share it with another company that will appreciate you more. All good things come to an end at some point.
I remember the Where the Wild Things Are campaign and the James Earl Jones ads fondly.
I remember Ivan Seidenberg.
Does anyone remember how great our marketing used to be? "Can you hear me now?" I mean how great and innovative was that? Now what are we known for, over priced and stale products, blah stores that have over pressured sales reps that don't truly care about the consumer, they only need to make the numbers or get slashed. Why can't Leadership see this?
Sadly they are destroying the company. Still haven't quite figured it all out but I can only compare it to Blackberry or Palm.
