Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Only in Murica: Laid off, jobs given to Indians, but required to be On-Call for 2 Years after layoff

SunTrust Banks in Atlanta is laying off about 100 IT employees as it moves work offshore. But this layoff is unusual for what the employer is asking of its soon-to-be displaced workers: SunTrust's severance agreement requires terminated employees to remain available for two years to provide help if needed, including in-person assistance, and to do so without compensation.

Many of the affected IT employees, who are now training their replacements, have years of experience and provide the highest levels of technical support. The proof of their ability may be in the severance requirement, which gives the bank a way to tap their expertise long after their departure.

No 1spv That means they will sue you as per your severance agreement. And I know if you read in the fine print of that agreement, it will be a great amount of damages they will claim. They are no fools, they have gotten your signature on that I'm sure. they are heartless greedy savages, without an ounce of moral decency. This is Corporate America. and you are their minions.

That must mean those people have to wait 2 years to get their severance package. Otherwise, once they get paid, they never have to answer the phone.

Why not, I'm sure it's written in your Illegal Codes of Conduct. They write it...therefore it shall be. It will be the Law of the land. Verizon's of Codes of Conduct supersede ALL laws State and Federal. It is written by Verizon, therefore it shall be.

I would sure hope that this "agreement" would be considered unenforceable in a court of law. And it is a clear indication of the greed and sheer lack of morals that our corporate leaders have adopted. The credo is simply screw everybody that you can while you make yourself rich. There will be a reckoning someday by those who have been pushed too far too many times.
