Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How did we get here? How come that most CEOs today are greedy psychopaths who have no interest in our Country, in their workers, in customers?

Seriously, what happened to us? I am in my early 40s and I can remember times when my father worked - the CEOs were wealthy, but nothing comparable to the scale we see today. They cared about OUR COUNTRY, they cared about the customer, the worker. Somehow, along the way we lost our values and we turned into a giant machine that makes money for a handful of super-wealthy share holders and the executive elite.

This all also trickles down to the middle management layer too, our managers do not care about the worker. I have a small team of 8 folks and I treat each of them like a family member, the expectations regarding work performance are clear and I do not compromise there but I'll go above and beyond to protect them as long as we take care of the business in an ethical manner with quality goals met.

Yet, I see my peers do things differently, they are rough, they act tough and they harm the worker in many respects. I am perplexed...

Trump vs. Bernie.

We Need Real Change.

Not the same political establishment that has 2 fake sides and has brought us to our knees.

Ethics, righteousness, honesty, all are the trunk of the tree. This causes the limbs to grow far and wide and be fruitful.

As a society, most are only concerned with "getting theirs" in regards to the fruit that comes off the limb.

At any cost. If you "got yours" then it matters not how it happened, the end justified the means to get it. This is business today unfortunately. It is a downward spiral in honesty and ethics. The people acting this way at the top force you to sign a "code of conduct" that they do not operate by, in the slightest.

Then we play it up with "you didn't get yours? you didn't work hard enough!"

"The game isn't rigged, you just didn't work hard enough!"

I'm all for self motivation, education, and hard work to get ahead, and I begrudge nobody anything that they have earned, but there has to be a balance.

The leaders at this company have set an example. And it's the wrong example; patience with nothing, abusing the workforce, deception for profit, no value for work done, do-as-i-say-not-do-as-i-do, terminations for merely questioning authority,

These same people fear socialism taking hold in this country yet they are the proximate cause of socialism becoming popular.

I like to have conversations with god fearing, honest, hard working, family men and yet I find that cannot almost never happen at verizon. Most here are highly deceptive, only thinking every second how they can "get theirs ahead of everyone else at any cost." The "C" in "c classs" now stands for cancer. This is not just at verizon, it's taking hold at most large companies.

The truth is the truth, even if nobody believes it.

A lie is a lie even if everyone believes it.

Godspeed.

I'm glad there are still people like you. At least you can look yourself in the mirror without betraying yourself. It was horrifying to have an insecure manager that was probably told to create chaos and implosion so verizon doesn't have to give severance or unemployment. ...those left are told to chase you out...starve you out...press u down...turn up the heat. Keep your cool. Don't let them get their way. Your dignity is everything

Just think how great this country could be. The idea of caring for people is gone, it's a get mine now society. It starts at the political level, when things are done for the party not the people. Self preservation at any cost by the political elite does tremendous damage to this country, that's enough, we all know this.

What happened is that we lost our civilization by shopping at the dollar shops... We are fighting with people who have no respect or dignity among themselves. It's a dirty fight!

Everyone is trying to get their own piece of the cheese and in their rush fail to see the big picture.

Some are decent folk, but many are real crap people.
