I want out-can I volunteer for the next cuts or what are the repercussions?

Be careful to volunteer. You must have a trusted relationship with your boss or as the previous post said, you will be a target. Same thing happened to me where HR didn't like me volunteering and they said I should quit instead.
Now, after the layoff, they took back half of the shares effectively cutting the benefit to 50%. Still, better than quitting a company that is in downward spiral internally.
Hey that was me as of 12/31/15 over 50 and making too much pay in my position. I was eliminated.
If you are over 50 and/or make too much money you should be a good candidate
When are the rifs occuring?
I suppose if you were mistake-prone and had difficulty doing your job you would rise to the top of a RIF list more quickly.
I volunteered and it was a target on my back. They tried to make me quit....don't volunteer. Keep up the act until you can find something new. I had to fight thru hr and ethics channel to receive compensation to not sue them. Play dumb and grateful for as long as u can
If you are non-union, talk to your boss IN PRIVATE ! Remember he/she has to come up with RIF numbers...you will make it easier for him/her when you volunteer.
Depends, are you union? Then it might be a bad idea.
You can volunteer, but it is not guaranteed you will be selected.
