Wireline expansion?

Is there any truth to the rumor of VZ putting money into DSL starved areas to make us look like a better purchase?

Smoke and mirrors. Placing DSLAMS but never turning up a goddam thing. Just like Fios in NYC, we allegedly passed 7 million homes but only 12 homes can actually subscribe. It's a sham to entice some1 else to purchase the wireline. Imagine if we actually ran the business. Yahoooooooooo...."

Funny that Bellsouth did the same, installing Dummy DSLAMS, in non supported areas by the thousands, prior ATT adquisition, to make it look like DSL was available everywhere, what a joke!!

It is true that vz has what it calls a "relief program" for DSL. It's only for the north east, there is congestion in tx, but who gives a crap, it's being sold? After a lot of bad press accusing vz of throttling bandwidth, the company has been forced to set aside monies to implement congestion relief. It absolutely does NOT want to put a red cent into DSL, but is being forced to. Relief will come as trunks with higher bandwidth, and installing additional dslams, at least that is what we were told. If you are unfortunate enough to work on DSL, vz considers you a leper, tarnishing their new, bright shiny vision of its self.

DSL has been expanded to some areas recently in parts Virginia. Max speed though are 15MB if you are close enough to the node. This only happened because Lowell who has a place in VA met with some of the local employees and was told that our DSL service was lacking in most of the surrounding area. Our DSL service pales in comparison to what the cable companies and FIOS can provide though. There are major network issues that need to be addressed that the company does not wish to address. The infrastructure is there to compete with the cable companies, VZ does not seem to interested in competing.

A northeast state, nothing has been done as far as DSL for years. Installing more fiber to a node, then 5g for the last mile seems more realistic.
