Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Previous Announced layoffs

Sprint – Reducing expenses by $2.5 billion that should not impact its network; cutting severance to one week for each year served. Those with an elephant-like memory will recall that Sprint announced a $1 billion cost-reduction plan back in 2003 following the telecom bust.

◾Verizon Wireless – Reducing 20 regional operations centers to six.

◾ATT Texas president said they are hiring 850 in Texas; hired over 4,000 year to date. Sue Marek from Fierce Wireless predicts that AT&T’s move to SDN will result in more job cuts.

Agree 100%, it is now a commodity, even if Verizon refuses to admit it.

It's over! The glory days of wireless are gone. Surely only the Batt-Batt Indian people of Indonesia are the only people not aware of this? All that's left is more and more and more cuts, which companies assert are necessary and working people decry as cruel, inhuman and an attempt by the rich to beat the masses down. It's all been said and done before. Wireless, like gas lights, the model T, landline phones, pet rocks and lava lamps have had their time. It's over.
