Its the same people on here posting about union vs company and what not. on both sides of the fence. you can tell by the post when you sit back and don't take some emotionally charged interest in it all. i can almost tell who posts what by the time of the post and how it is written.

i skip these posts and go to the ones that aren't all union vs non union and what not.

when you let on that it bothers you, guess what happens.....?

some people just wanna watch the world burn.

and your not going to fix it here on an anonymous bbs. '

just my 2 cents.

This site is useless. I get the First Amendment bit, but it's ad nauseum. I Skim thru the comments, looking for real news. Same old drivel. "STRIKE, STRIKE, STRIKE, TODAY IS THE DAY! SEE YOU ON THE FRONTLINE. .................this excrement NEVER stops. Companie's lies and bullying, coupled with relentless, RELENTLESS, verbal diarrhea from apparent Union members? Be back in a week to see if there's any real company news. Keep looking for a real information website, free of looney Luddites?

2brm - I think what is being implied is that you will be on the hook to provide your own insurance. It's the law and liable to cost members thousands of dollars.

I wonder if the Teamster's would allow their members to be treated as we are. My guess is they would have went on strike immediately and picketed the living $h!+ out of the employer for as long as it took to get a good contract.

Oh well if we need a good laugh out there on the picket line we can always read the user comments for go90. They say that laughter is the best medicine

Ha Ha,,,Strike. Guess what happens when your health care ends at the end of the strike month. Have you dopes paused long enough to consider that ramification? Too funny, enjoy your "free" government health insurance while you're walking around with cardboard dangling from your necks. I hope it's a long, long strike if you chicken littles actually walk. And don't forget to be on top of those IRS forms!

Edm..I hear you but are you out in the field right now? Easy to say if you are not. They suspend people 6 weeks for trivial crap.

Hard for people who have to pay bills to lose all that pay. They force some people to work 12 hour days 6 days and then hassle them the whole time. Hassle over your unpaid lunch hour. "Forget" to pay you "oh we'll put it in next weeks check". Constant phone calls and texts that only slow you down. Completely unrealistic numbers....blame the tech for everything, even a no access. Blame the tech for the copper the company won't fix. Ridiculous harassing QAR interviews that allow mgmnt to target and harrass techs of their choice. What kind of life is this? Feels like the union should be doing something about all this harassment. Is it even legal? Clearly it is being done to bust the union and target individuals management don't like.

I hate my job now. I hate all the managers. The higher rank they are the more I despise them. The job market sucks and I can't quit. But every week I hope we will go on strike just to get away from all this bullshit.

With the Labor Laws on the Union side it's foolish to strike. It would make no sense what so ever. The Union is now working everyday getting paid, with a contract the company hates, can not stand, and wants to get rid of, BUT THEY CAN"T! because of the heavily Union favored Labor Laws. Those laws protect the Union and lets the Union work while "trying" to get a new deal. I don't know this is going to play out, but what ever the Union does, Don't go off the payroll not even for one day. Take there money until the company breaks the Law, and they probably will. Then Strike.

Whenever anyone attempts to critique their local, it's always the same thing. "This is a bad time, we need to show a united front." "Don't air our dirty laundry for management to see." "Don't do it in a public forum."

I think that's just a means of stifling constructive criticism. If it's never a good time, and cannot be discussed in any public forum, then when can it happen? It never will.

Oh, I get it now.

I'm sure we all know of problems with the union, but better not to air them here when the company is trying to break us.

Let's do this instead, everyone who agrees with this... we have tried to negotiate for 6 months with apparently no success, in fact they have answered us with a campaign of harassment!.... So I would say it is pretty clear they have no respect for us..

Lets each of who agree and are willing to put something on the line call our local this Monday and express our feelings and demand a strike!

If enough members call it is bound to make some kind of impact. At least they will know not everyone is happy to be harassed for no reason while we are working 6 months with no contract!

Why isn't this union at least demanding all union members, cancel any and all services from Verizon. I already did it but a message should be sent. If we can't at least do that, we get what we deserve.

Almost every great moment in labor history happened when the members bucked the union mouthpieces, led the way, and dragged a reluctant union leadership along kicking and screaming. Leadership is always more comfortable with the status quo, and shies away from being militaristic, worried about what they might personally lose.

BTW, there's no more legitimate elections in my local, just coronations for whoever's deemed to be next in line to ascend throne.

"once/if a strike is called, then that last bargaining chip has been played, and if the other side doesn't fold, it can be a much worse off scenereo for those no not currently collecting a weekly paycheck."

No offense, but you do realize how weak this sounds? If we think like this we are beaten before we even start! That is exactly how they want us to feel!

Not everything worth doing comes easy! We only live once, one day we all must face our deaths, but for today we are alive! What good are we if we can't stand up for ourselves and our families against some greedy businessman?

I'm sure Verizon will not "just fold", I'm sure they intend to starve us out and lie to the media like they always do.

But sometimes have to fight a bully, even though you don't want to, otherwise he will keep taking from you, he will never respect you unless you are willing to get hurt!

You like Shakespeare?

"Cowards die many times before their deaths;

The valiant never taste of death but once. "

And as for you McLowsham...

Sic Semper Tyrannis!

Some of the representatives in my local are hand-picked, elections-rigged, and some of those elected are quite profoundly stupid.

Going through nine contracts this one feels very different. For the first time I feel if we go, we may not return. Never in my memory have we worked two in a row without a deal. This leadership want's to be the group that can make claim to busting the union. Having said that, lets go, they really have zero respect for the union worker.I do think the company leadership underestimates what will happen if we are on the streets for a long stoppage.

Point of correction.....no one in the union voted for a strike, rather they voted to give the union leadership the right to implement a strike, if they (the union leadership) deemed it appropriate. This is standard practice before every contract negotiation....if the union members in turn did not vote to give this authority to the leadership, then they would effectively be giving the union negotiators no leverage during the negotiations. That being said, once/if a strike is called, then that last bargaining chip has been played, and if the other side doesn't fold, it can be a much worse off scenereo for those no not currently collecting a weekly paycheck.

Let's face it the union will not strike, my guess is the majority of locals do not have the strike fund they are supposed to and cannot afford to have a strike and the members find out.

1ggb- that definitely isn't the form to stop cwa dues. I do however know where you're coming from. I stopped paying dues several years ago for the very reason you have stated. The voices of members are completely ignored. Not striking while having lost membership to layoffs and current membership is experiencing nonstop on the job harassment, this is inexcusable. Verizon continues to profit billions each quarter, all while laughing in the faces of the union leadership.

1ggb, that's a form to be utilized by unionized members in the government sector exclusively, you dope. Go ahead, turn it in, and wait to be laughed at, if you're actually even in a union. However I suspect you are not, or you would have known you were pushing the wrong form and your advice would make them look foolish).

Once more members start turning in this form, www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/sf1188.pdf, then maybe the union will start listening to it's members.
