My last day with Verizon Wireless will be December 31st. I must say that after 19 years with the company it will be sad to go. Most of all I will miss the FEW good genuine hard working people that I have worked with. Most of the genuinely good LOYAL people are gone or will be by December 31st. Sad part is that the people that were RIFD this last round were really hard working individuals that would do anything for the company including myself, WAS proud to be a part of VZW. I have seen major changes over the past 2 years and a drop in moral like I have never seen before in this company, this is sad! I have also seen a lot of childish games played on people within this company, makes no sense to me & pretty darn sad! Happy that I was offered a severance package, pretty decent one along with paid benefits for a while. Nice of VZW to do that and I appreciate it! Now I can move on and live out my childhood dream! @1ubk.....Congratulations on your new job. But as you know after working for VZ .....Do your job as best you can , collect your pay , take your vacation days due and Watch your back. It is just a job not your life
looks like many of us are reaching the final phases of the grieving process over our job loss, the emotions of depression then finally acceptance. Remember you are not alone and there is someone out there just like you, who feels much as you do? Vz does not care about us, but it's very nearly impossible to stop human beings from wanting to do their job to the best of their ability. Sadly those are the very people who hurt the most when cast aside. We are NOT worthless. I believe many of us have been incredibly blind to just how greedy and uncaring vz really is. Gun shy I may be, but having been laid off twice before in my working life I learned to never believe what any company tells me. After witnessing devastating Riffs in former GTE that lasted for years and saw hundreds of people cut down to just 5 of us today, caused me to constantly reaffirm my distrust of vz. I may not be wise, but I was smart enough to take full advantage of the education assistance the company offered to relentlessly, almost maniacally, pursue networking knowledge and vendor certifications. Riff'd and off payroll 12/31/2015, I start my new network job 01/04/2016. Thank you life for teaching me to work hard, for me. Thank you for forcing my eyes wide open and teaching me the lessons that have allowed me to overcome my current job loss. A job loss that has sadly devastated the lives of so many other working people.

Good post. A lot of us are about to find out what life is like after Verizon, myself included. I hope all those impacted land on their feet. I appreciate the sevrence, but Verizon seems to be going downhill FAST. Pumping at lousy products like HUM and Go90, I am not sure the future is so bright. Myself along with many of my friends and family will be taking our wireless business elsewhere. Multiplied by 6000 other impacted employees that may take their business elsewhere cannot bode well for Verizon.
Actually morale is at an all time low now especially after all of these organizational changes and layoffs. Over the past 2 to 3 years morale among workers at Verizon Wireless has been dropping but I have to say that I did see it start to pick up a bit over the past 8 months and now dropped to all time low in part of all the layoffs. Good luck to all. I know you have heard this before but there is life outside of Verizon.

lol Interesting misspell , all things considered. Though just a spouse my favorite memory is when we would stop into work at night and the Verizon Wireless sign would light up the dark road as we approached. It was so cool to know he worked for the company whose phones could always get a signal when others are holding their phones in the air or by a window. Some pretty smart people must have worked hard to make that happen. Wonder how many of those got Rifd too. I hope everyone is getting along OK with the holidays. Nobody can believe my guy was Rifd. People don't know what to say. I say "Things are going to be OK".
The drop in morale finally spread to the VZW side, so sad.
