Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Another round of layoffs is on its way! Don't be fooled by the quitness-they're coming and they won't be pretty...

Be expecting another round of layoffs in early January. This time the home office is targeted big time (and no, SS will not be gone). They need to save lots of payroll because of financial targets not being hit across the board.

The field will have their next round of layoffs around March/April timeframe once rush is over and books are returned. If you haven't gotten out yet, GET OUT NOW!

Oh yeah, and trust no one!

Follett needs to retain the last of the loyal, knowledgeable in textbook employees & rid themselves of all & any MLS hires & cronies, Kmart, Sears, etc., brought on in the past 4 years who have brought this company down. What is RG really doing to turn Follett around? And why no Follett family at the helm to save their name?

I wouldn't count on SS be retained.

Substantiate or not; real or not; the fact is Follett does reduce its workforce. The past 3 years Follett been brutal to its workforce. Many companies reduce staff as a course of doing business. They stack rank and the bottom x% need to be managed up or managed out.

If you're not thinking about you're plan for you're next job, you're a fool. Don't worry about the rumored lay off. If it's real, you can't do anything about it. It's like worrying about today's temperature. Like the weather, prepare for it.

Prepare for your next job search. If you don't need to execute your plan, that's the best outcome. Hopin' for sunshine, preparing for rain.

If you think you are safe, just remember what happened to nearly all of the Neebo RMs that joined Follett as part of Operation The Only Way We Can Grow. Operation Hatchet Job will happen before the start of the new fiscal year in order to show a budget that satisfies the vultures at the top.

For the past three years they fired the home office knowledge and replaced them with "the right people" whom we can call "unqualified clowns" and rid the stores of full time staff at the top end of their pay scales. Remember, in the failing retailer worlds of Sears and OfficeMax there is no vision or profitability so what passes for innovation to such leadership is really nothing more than hatchet jobs geared at eliminating expenses. We have a hell of a mess to clean up, none of us are safe or can think justice will prevail in future staffing adjustments but we owe it to our coworkers, our customers, and the remaining members of the family who still care, to do the best we can.

Follett does not have a history of doing such a thing????? Where have you been for the past 3 years? Nothing but destroying and removing its workforce. And remember people are still being let go every pay period but they got smart and do not publicize it.

Why would they be hiring if they are having a lay off.

What is your source? I believe it is B/S.

I'm starting to believe the people posting these things are habitual liars. It all started with SS being fired, which didn't happen. How about we all focus on doing our jobs and then see what happens. What's the worst that can happen? They fire us? Follett does not have a history of doing such a thing.

Source for this info? Beginning to doubt a lot of info being written on this site. Stores are bare bones now, struggle to give 'hassle free experience' & do loss prevention. I intend on having a merry Christmas & not worry. Merry Christmas to you all

Bullsh*t! What's your source? I don't think the additional stress of worrying over unsubstantiated rumor is helpful right now. We need to take this time to de-stress, enjoy our families and recharge so that we can best serve our students during rush.
