Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I guess 1st quarter is going to look amazing

But what about the rest of the year? They can't keep riffing people and actually accomplish work. The management team left in my department is faurking clueless. They will run it into the ground, in certain. What is the point of this? Do you think they'll just sell the whole company to themselves under a new name and ditch what they want?

Also, please resist the urge to comment something completely unrelated to the question posed as these two did, turning the thread into something completely irrelevant from the original posters

Please resist the temptation to say things like "I am happy to have a job". I know it's a true sentiment, but that's how you've been conditioned to feel, that you're the lucky one, not them. Break out of that victim mentality if you can. We are struggling. We're not lucky. Ten years ago, would you have considered yourself lucky working 12 hour days, often on weekends, tied to a cell phone even on vacation? Your a slave, but you feel like a lucky slave. Amazing how the mindset morphs over time.

Forgive typos...my phone thinks it is smarter than me.

Wonder how they will do it with even less coverage - or shall I say wonder how we will pull it off?

Verizon is a fear-based company and is all about money, not employees.

I am thankful for having a job, but the culture at the top trickles down and sucks you dry.

It's the old adage. Who gets it worse? Those let go or those left behind? (Figuratively speaking)

I would say I am up to doing the work of 2.5 people. I am on salary, so no concern from management about putting in 12, 16, 18 hour days...as long as they are charged to a customer account. I once had customers in two time zones, so with meetings, Verizon was blessed with filling 2 jobs for the price of one.

. ..better stop I am getting myself wound up and off topic

I am thankful for having a job, but the culture at the top sucks you dry.
