Supposedly, there will be 37,000 employees forced to go to frontier as part of the sale. I'm wondering when those people will be notified, and how.

Frontier are not buying ca. Fl. Tx. for any other reason that to grow their business in order to grow their profits. They are not wonderful saviors, they are running a business and consolidation of the labor force is guaranteed to occur and that means many, not all, but many, former vz people will get cut. The consolidation that took place when BA/GTE merger occurred saw incredibly brutal cuts here in ca. VZ sent their death dealers to ca. and lay waste to hundreds of people in my old building over 3 years. Riff packages were piled high on a couple of make shift tables. Today 4 of us remain. So I respectfully suggest that pointing fingers at the faults of Verizon versus frontier is worthless. These companies, both of them, don't even see us as human. We are worker bees, at best, small, but grubby rodents, to be used and disposed of as quickly as possible. My advice to myself is to expect that Frontier will get rid of me. My hope, fingers crossed, is that if they do let me go it will be within the first year, so I get the vz riff package. At least that is my understanding.
Lets hope Frontier has learned a little from the last time. The software we use in the CO for dispatching Verizon can have that garbage back looks a 5 year old from India created it
Anyone that I know that went to frontier in the last deal was let go. In fact, some came back to vz as consultants(of course no benefits etc. ) they were very bitter and felt betrayed by vz.
We provided frontier with our IT software... Gave them a data center . Frontier incorporated our systems into theirs and laid off the former vz employees.
As 952 said, the experience last time was not that great. It's the markets that Frontier wants, not the individual people. Many of those I knew who transferred did indeed lose their jobs within a year or so, despite assurances otherwise. I am surprised that people who, with considerable justification, distrust VZ execs would believe that Frontier execs are any more trustworthy.
But maybe it will different this time. (And I can sell a bridge etc)
Bottom line. If somebody sells you they didnt want you. If somebody buys you they want you. Where would you rather be ?
Doubt they will be let go. They are trying to rebuild networks in each region and want the experts to remain. Those going to Frontier are in a good place.
Well good luck! I hope it works out for those of you moving to frontier. When we sold Midwest to frontier a few years ago... They forced people to move there. I knew several people who were forced to go. Within 2 years they were let go.
All the 11k is already notified and they are protected from VZ leadership that does not know how to build a business from scratch.
I'm one of those going and the vz telecast I watched said it was 11000 people going to frontier? Like @204871 on this blog I can't wait & whooped for joy when I heard. I jumped up and punched the air. No bitterness,no sadness or disappointment for me. Why? No loyal hard working fool here. Been sucking on that vz teat for better than a couple of decades. No more milk, just blood coming out, so time for moi to move on.
Its 11K not 37K
April 1 2016 cant wait!!!!
Already happened
