Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Whoa is me, I gave so much, I sweated blood, I gave my all, they are so cruel, blah blah, blah. You do know the upper management are reading these posts and they are on the floor sobbing............ with laughter? Everyone of upper management knows they have us by the b@!!$. Try finding another job with this pay and benefits? Sprint? T Mobile? They are laying off, not hiring. That leaves Best Buy, Toys R US or the old $hit¥ole, Walmart. H.R. Haldeman, President Nixon's chief-of-staff, had a notice on the back wall of his office at the White House that all vz senior management know only too well. "When you have them by the b@!!z, their hearts and minds will follow."

177 What network does VZW use? If not for the landline side network in markets that VZW has a footprint they would be like sprint spotty at best....

I get it quite sad. I recommend you take some time this weekend and get over it quickly. Many would love to work for Verizon. If you are disgruntled, leave. Don't mean to sound harsh however the pity party is getting old. It's business. It pays the bills. If you are unhappy I am sure Verizon will gladly find a replacement without a woahs me attitude

I have also been with vzw for a decade. Have bled red and black the whole time and devoted an immense amount of time, energy and stress over my job. I am not safe from what's happening but feel the need to step back from all of this to think about what I've gained from my time here. Very good pay (for very hard work), great benefits, paid for my degree, allowed me to support my family as the sole provider and so much more. I don't think the company is evil, I think through the immense growth we've had, some redundancies were formed. The wire line folks have always been the loudest and most negative but in the wireless space, I've always felt the company was always one step ahead of the competition. Don't know if this is another one of those moves. I guess we will have to look back and find out. I hope that everyone makes peace with this and hopefully gained enough experience along the way to fall on their feet if the unfortunate news comes up. Good luck to all.

For me,@204879, the dimise of GTE after the merger/buyout was joyous. VZ was, at the time, a savior to me. I was in management and nepotism was rampant. The backstabbing by your own colleagues was horrific. May The Force be with us all

Felt the same way when bell Atlanta took over GTE. Had 38 years with GTE, after the take over things started to change fast. I lasted about 2 years took the last good package and baled.

It's hard to care for a company that just doesn't care about you. They don't care about any one of us that are still here so why poor your heart and soul into it when a inevitable cut is coming? Why do them the favor and give them my hard work when the tap on the shoulder is coming? The execs should take a 2% pay cut.
