Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Questions about severance

1) what date will actual severance be paid?

2) will the STI award be in that check or come in Feb with everyone elses?

3) will all this be taxed heavily like a bonus?

4) will leftover vacation days from 2015 be bought back? (I have 11 days)

5) I am told I have to keep reporting to work through Dec 17, Im not sure why since all my access has already been shut down and my teams have already been redistributed.

Thanks in advance

OK webinar sit in person, when do they notify Fidelity we are not on payroll so we can suck money out of that ?

Also to the people coming in to work. Each is different, true, but for me I am not setting foot in that place unless someone calls me on the phone. Good riddance. I have superior office setup at home office anyway, and I keep logged in remotely 24x7 in case . Only going to office to puke up their crappy hp laptop with the crippled win image

notebooks ? what notebooks. all in trash as much as I could. Good riddance millenial crazies.

BELIEVE ME, ALL will be taxed heavily, so dont get too excited at the first dollar amounts you hear about

"Who can fix this?" Maybe they've been let go? I think those left are going to be hearing that question a lot.

Somehow the benifits website shows lower number of hours than actual for vacation banked. Who can fix this?

Just a spouse here, but from what I have heard each Rif is different. Some are coming in, some not. Some are training replacements, it's all over the board. Mine was encouraged to work on resumes and job searches in other parts of Verizon, but not in the section rifd. I guess as rule try to use the services they are providing and kind of keep track of your time spent on different things. Although they want you to feel like you are still part of the team, it's probably mentally better to think of yourself as a short term contractor now paid to tidy up things at Verizon and job-hunt.

I plan on changing my tax status to exempt after the first of the year and invest the severance and STI payments appropriately to take the biggest tax saving possible.

I sat in on all 3 of the webinars ..I'm on the wireless side of being thrown away.....what I got from it was that the severance check will come 1-2-3 weeks after 12/31/15...the STI is paid out the last pay period of Feb and will be taxed like they taxed it before HEAVILY and I was told that vacation will be paid out after your manager reports you are no longer on the payroll which should be in January and profit sharing will come in March
