I look at some of the comments posted and some turns my stomach. I was a technician for 7 years, 4 in a training center. I took management after that for 10 years as a local manager. I never had a negative year end review and also received the "Potomac Excellence Award", haha. I took a buyout in April of this year. I was required to work nonstop 12-14 hour days, having to have cell phone on while on vacation unless out of the country, just to get my ass handed to me for the most petty things. My area had 40 technicians for 3 counties, with very little fiber. The plant was chopped so bad, mostly due to growth and not enough facilities. I took multiple complaints every day. When you visit a customer 15 times in a year, is it the technician? The company says yes?????? That same area now has 12 techs, still with very little fiber. With the company skinning down the workforce, they now force overtime regularly. Problem-those with kids have to pray that the kids don't get in trouble due to lack of parenting due to excessive work. Yes the techs make good money with the ot but 1st level management gets very little. C&P was a family organization that carried over to Bell Atlantic with great customer service statistics. Before I left, VZ was patting itself on the back for Comcast having a 67% approval rating, while VZ was at 71% rating. Really? Happy about 71%??????? Policies have ruined customer service...i.e.: techs giving out business cards for customers
To call if a problem. Techs have no way to get a ticket in for the customer. ????????? Many resorting to going on the web to enter a trouble report. Then rated on it?????? These guys are fighting the good fight with both hands behind backs. I don't care which party you are from, this is WRONG!!!!' This company worked better when you could have faith that if you did a good job, you could retire there as many did before. Good luck!!!! Shareholders are way more important than customers and employees. Pretty soon VZ will be worse than Comcast or sell the wireline.
